Baby Parker (infant) - Death - Brantford (July 28, 2005)
« on: September 24, 2007, 12:01:54 PM »
On the afternoon of Thursday, July 28, 2005, a citizen was walking her dog along an abandoned train track in a remote area of near Dufferin Avenue and Parkside Drive in the City of Brantford, when the body of a full term baby boy was discovered. An investigation was immediately launched and officers canvassed the area and DNA testing was undertaken in an effort to find the mother. Police also sought the public?s assistance, stressing that the mother could be a neighbour, co-worker, or family member.

A towel used in this incident is a ?Select Editions?, beige towel made by the Cambridge Company. It is 100% cotton and has a ?Sea Same? label which may be a designer colour name. The towel is in good condition and is sold exclusively at Wal-Mart. It is 2' x 4' in size.

On August 3, 2005, investigators received a letter from the mother of the baby. The letter stated that she will be in touch with them in the near future; however, since that time there has been no further communication.
On August 17, 2005, Baby Parker was laid to rest. His burial arrangements and costs were donated by Beckett and Glaves Funeral Home. Investigators named the baby boy ?Baby Parker?, after Parkside Drive, a nearby street where he was found. However, they would rather see him buried with his family name.

Scientists at The Centre of Forensic Science have developed a DNA profile for ?Baby Parker?. This profile has established and both the mother and father of the baby can be identified.

Police need to confirm the circumstances of the recovery of the baby and the validity of the mother?s story to police. It is realized that the mother must be afraid; however, investigators need to meet with her in order to conclude the investigation.

This incident remains an active police investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Dave Sinclair, at (519) 756-0113, ext. 2273, or CRIME STOPPERS, at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Why would someone do this?!

There are two better options: 1. Abortion 2. Adoption

I doubt it was murder. Probly a sids death and the mother freaked out. Id say look for someone young at that time, the handwriting suggests it. Also someone must know a person that had an infant at some point and for whatever reason, suddenly didnt. So if it were around 2005 and you knew someone in brantford that "suddenly" gave their child up for adoption or lost it to cas or something, might be worth looking into. But I dont see murder in this case.

I think she abandoned a live baby and it died.  That's murder.

Thats also merely your opinion...Ive yet to see any evidence suggesting anything pertaining to cause of death. Not every case on this board is a witch hunt.

First of all the letter is not complete.  The cops gave a sample of the handwriting - that is it!  There are many parts of this letter missing for the eyes of the public to read.

We just don't know!! We just can't guess =nor can we tell what happened to this baby, other than this child was found deceased.  Perhaps it was stillborn. Perhaps the young mother panicked and committed infanticide, we just do not know - nor will we ever know the answer, except the mother of this infant will know the answer.

This is very childlike handwriting to my eye, and obviously she cared enough to write a letter = some compassion shown there, along with feelings of this incident which so distressed her.

This mother was very young, without a support system - even if she had a so called family, regardless of her economic background, she did not have anyone to confide in regarding her pregnancy - obviously!!

Perhaps this girl was homeless, but stats say that they (mothers who commit infanticide have intact families.)

There are too many examples of infanticide  in our society.  What has happened to us that we don't notice young women in distress, and as regards to pregnancy the filling up of the tummy.? What has happened to  our society with family members not paying  attention to our girls?   Don't we notice such things? -  Our daughters can get  "In trouble" (pregnancy).

Don't we see it ? Or are we too busy?

This could have also been a mentally disadvantaged adult who didn't have the tools to cope with the situation.  Or a victim of rape!  Or even both.  It's easier to judge members of our society that are marginalized than it is to show support of something so awful.  RIP wee one.
