On October 7th, 2001 Durham Regional Police were called to the Queen?s Hotel, located at 67 Simcoe Street North in the City of Oshawa regarding a male party that had been stabbed in the stomach.

The victim, Gregory Gutsole was at the Queen?s Hotel with a number of parties drinking. At approximately 2345 hours, Mr. Gutsole and three or four acquaintances left the Queen?s and proceeded south on Simcoe Street towards Bond Street. At this time Mr. Gutsole split from his friends and said that he would meet them at the Bull Pen pub on Bond Street.

Shortly after going separate ways from his friends, Mr. Gutsole got into an altercation with an unknown person, which resulted in him being stabbed in the abdominal area.

Mr. Gutsole made his way around to the south entrance of the Queen?s where upon entering asked the bartender to call an ambulance as he had been stabbed.

Mr. Gutsole was driven to the hospital by a friend where he was admitted and received treatment.

As a result of complications to his injuries, Mr. Gutsole later passed away.
