The Homicide and Major Crimes Units are responsible for investigating crimes of violence. These include murder, attempt murder, sexual assault, assault, abduction and robbery.

Investigating crimes of violence are among the most resource-intensive functions within a police service. With the addition of computer software, police are now able to perform the most thorough investigation possible, working in partnership with other branches and other police services.

June 16, 2004- The Waterloo Regional Police Homicide Branch continues to investigate the death of Michael ROBICHAUD, 52 years of age of Cambridge. Mr. ROBICHAUD was found deceased in his residence at 127 Water St. North Cambridge, on Friday, May 7, 2004. The circumstances surrounding his death are suspicious and as such, homicide investigators are appealing to the public to assist in retracing his activities between Wednesday May 5, and Friday May 7.

Mr. ROBICHAUD was known to frequent the downtown Galt area of Cambridge.
