Saskatchewan RCMP have arrested a man and a woman from Washington state following a search across Western Canada for a man accused of child rape.

The couple was taken into custody on an immigration warrant at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park, north of Swift Current.

Their four children were apprehended "for their welfare," police said in a release.

According to published reports, the couple left Washington after child rape charges were laid against the 40-year-old man. The complainant is now 18.

The Canadian Border Services Agency put out a warrant for the pair.

They were discovered in the afternoon in the park in southwest Saskatchewan.

RCMP officers from the Kyle and Swift Current detachments were assisted by members of the RCMP emergency response team and conservation officers.

Police say the couple was taken into custody without incident.
