I guess this is better, than nothing, facing your demons and all that. But you know, an addict once told me that every time he went to a N/A meeting, he left wanting to stick a needle in his arm.

After his course, I hope he goes back to jail, and straight to general population, they can show him the realities of pedophillia. ??? 8) 8) >:(

************************************************************Convicted sex monster Carl Treleaven is out of jail only 18 months after he began a 3 1/2-year sentence for running a child-porn chatroom.

A ruling released yesterday by the National Parole Board means Treleaven will be released on parole into a special residential treatment program for sex offenders.

While the ruling notes Treleaven reoffended after trying treatment in the past, parole board members have nevertheless offered the 51-year-old city man another shot at turning his life around.

Police arrested Treleaven in early 2006 for his involvement in a global child-porn ring that began with an investigation into an Edmonton man who was molesting his own stepchildren and sharing images of the assaults online.

Treleaven was a key administrator of a chatroom called Kiddypics & Kiddyvids, and his arrest last year led to child-porn charges spanning several U.S. states, the United Kingdom, Australia and Sweden.

Officials said the ring traded in photos and live shows of children being raped in so-called "child molestation on demand" broadcasts on the Internet.

Court heard that police caught Treleaven on his computer in his west-end home tending to about 90 users waiting to download porn from his 20-gigabyte stash. He pleaded guilty a month later to distributing child porn.

While he is now on parole, the ruling notes that Treleaven will be in the residential program and "will not have access to the community for many months."

Temporary release from the program will come once he shows progress in treatment. Treleaven will have to go before another parole board hearing to get longer absences.

The parole board wouldn't disclose the location of the program.

Det. Randy Wickins, an Edmonton cop who handles child-porn investigations in Edmonton, said he has some hope treatment can be effective. "I don't know if it works, but if there's any hope that it might, then let's try it," he said.

While other offenders have told Wickins that treatment worked for them, "it really boils down to their willingness to live their life using the strategies that they learned in treatment," he said. "It's really up to them."

Treleaven's release comes as a city man appears in court today over another child-porn case.

"It was a case of somebody downloading child pornography and making it available for sharing, just as you would a song," said Staff-Sgt. Howard Kunce of the Alberta Integrated Child Exploitation Unit.

The arrest last month resulted from a continuing investigation into Internet file-sharing sites such as Limewire, Kunce said. Police got information on the case in July, after which they got a warrant to search a home in southeast Edmonton. The search and the seizure of computer equipment turned up hundreds of examples of child porn, Kunce said.

"It was a significant amount. It's always significant, even if there's one. We don't see many files with less than hundreds," Kunce said, adding that file-sharing programs - also known as peer-to-peer sites - are a common way people get child porn.

Police charged Wayne Sibbald, 66, on Aug. 17 with accessing, possession of and distribution of child porn. His first court appearance is today.

In a separate case, 43-year-old Byron Harpold is set to be in court next Wednesday on charges dating back to July. Acting on a tip, police seized computer equipment while searching a west Edmonton home. Police say Harpold, whom they charged with possessing kiddie porn, was prohibited at the time from having a computer.

I am not sure what to say about this? I thought these types of creeps were going to spend more time in prison as it is the only known form af treatment that works.

I hear ya Chris, this justice system is fucked, and the sad thing is, these twisted cockroaches find each other, and continue the cycle. Some times they kill to make sure the child does not talk.

The damages that these people do is so morally and ethically wrong, so cruel, self centered, and and selfish beyond words.I would just love to talk to all these suckers one on one, and tell them about the devastation they do to the child, the family, and how the child is often left with no coping skills.AAARRRRGghhhhhhhh.... >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

WE had a guy here in town sent to prison for just a few months for having 29,000 child porn images he was sharing online. And only 3 years probation. That is horrible, I think the justice system does not understand pedophilia.
