I hope little Hailey is found safe and sound.
I do not understand this story, something doesn't make sense.  Who phoned in the abduction, was it the father?
He was found (murdered?) in his home seven hours later.
Was Hailey abducted from the home she lived in with her dad?

This is just terrible, a child going missing from her bed at 3:30 am

He was found dead at 11:15am by a relative so he likely didn't call in the abduction. There seems to be another witness who reported the van speeding away and the time and they are thinking that's when the little girl was taken and likely the approximate time of the murder. They have had quite a head start unfortunately.

An Amber Alert remains in effect for Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette, a toddler whose father was found dead yesterday in a home in Blairmore, Alta., in what appears to be a murder-abduction.

The alert covers Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan, and extends into Montana.

"This is a terrifying ordeal," said Blair Painter, mayor of Blairmore, a small mountain community where the two-year-old was living with her father and grandfather.
"The scene at the residence that we found is concerning to the highest degree," said RCMP Supt. Tony Hamori.

Hamori says that when Mounties arrived at the home on Monday, they found the body of 27-year-old Terry Blanchette.

Police have confirmed that the girl isn't with her mother, who lives in Edmonton. They have had no further developments to report on Tuesday morning.

White van seen speeding away

Witnesses told investigators they heard loud noises around 3:30 a.m. Monday, and saw a newer-model white van with a large antenna on the back, speeding away.

Without any suspects, RCMP say any details on the white van are critical.

"We could be dealing with a single suspect or more than that... At this point in time, we are really seeking to get further information about this white van."

The apparent murder-abduction has shocked the community.

"I just hope they find her," said Doreen Polczer. "Why they [took] her I don't know. They would have been better off to leave her in the house. At least someone would have found her and she would have been safe."

Police are asking people not to approach the vehicle and to call Blairmore RCMP at 403-562-2866 or Crime Stoppers with any information.

Good point D1

Checked it out with google.  Tall antenna's are used for CB radio.  Citizen Band two way radios.
And it can be used to listen to police, if they know the right bandwidth.

This is what I've been wondering all along in regard the grandfather. Police are not saying who the relative was that found the father deceased, however one would have to think that if it was the grandfather who found him it would have happened before 11:00 am the next day. I also feel he would likely have heard something (unless he is deaf). Who reported this in the first place? There seems to be things missing from this story and some obvious things left unsaid. Hope this little one is found safe, and that the person who has her does not panic.

See latest RMP video update.

Why would a 22 year old male murder her dad, and abduct her?  This is very unusual imo.

I wonder, if perhaps the taking of the little girl, was an afterthought - to use her as protection in his get-away.  Or, if he intended to use her as ransom??

This is just a wild guess.

This crime is so disturbing and sad, that it's hard to comment...Except to ask WHY?
