http://www.edmontonsun.com/2015/06/19/edmontons-latest-homicide-victim-loved-to-performThe man who found her in his alley took her pulse but she was already dead.

Edmonton's medical examiner on Thursday confirmed she died of blunt force trauma.

Hope Mission, 9908 106 Ave., is a not-for-profit shelter that operates the church and provides meals, addiction treatment programs, after-school programs and a street-rescue van to inner-city residents.

Anyone with information about Berg's killing is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567.

Berg's death is the city's eleventh of the year.

Edmonton's last homicide prior to Berg was that of city police Const. Daniel Woodall, shot dead June 8 trying to serve a warrant at the west-end home of Norman Raddatz, 42, who opened fire on officers through the front door before the house was lit on fire and he fatally shot himself in the head.

Prior to Woodall's killing was the June 4 inner-city stabbing death of Claudia Howard, 29, who police described as homeless. She was stabbed in the chest near 106 Avenue and 103 Street, not far from the construction site of Edmonton's new downtown arena. The area between 101 Street and 105 Street, and 107 Avenue to Jasper Avenue, is rife with crime and disorder, so much so that police created a separate district called Delta Zero to manage the problems. That killing also remains unsolved and investigators are asking for anyone with information about that case to also contact police.

Very sad news.
One article posted here says she was an employee of The Hope Mission, the next article states Andrea was not an employee, but a member of The Hope Mission.
Goes to show how facts can get screwed up in the press.

There looks like an arrest in this case, can't copy the article at the moment though.

Police have identified the city's latest homicide victim as Andrea Marie Berg. (Facebook)

Berg, 42, had her mouth taped shut and legs bound together when she was found in an alley near 124th Street and 113th Avenue.

Police say she was killed by blunt force.

Lana Jane Pelletier, 42, is charged with second-degree murder. John Charles Kisil, 50, is charged with being an accessory after the fact.

Police say Pelletier was also known as Lana Stalker. Both Pelletier and Kisil are in custody.

Staff Sgt. Shawna Grimes said the victim knew the accused.

She said the shopping cart was used to move Berg's body. Grimes can't reveal where the homicide occurred because the investigation is still underway.

Police say they are still looking for more information for their investigation and are urging people to come forward.

Shooting up with amphetamines and drinking a 26 ounce hard liquor a day are NO excuse for their actions and should not even be considered lightly in sentencing.
There is help available ... both to get off drugs and booze, and for mental health help. Although the mental institutions ofttimes seem to fail people, there are clinics geared just for these kinds of people. They can also get help financially to do some studies and become decent members of society if they are not too lazy. Just too many times past problems become a crutch and everyone has it in them to improve. It takes work and commitment.
