"The van was located on Ackinson Road near an access point to the Trans Canada Highway on May 13. It was found to be in working order."

Close to hiway? Was Van operable? Wonder if OPP asked truckers and locals if they picked up any hitchhikers that night in that area? Or saw anyone on the side of the road walking?

Logical, Lorraine's Van was actually found near the Trans Canada Trail. (Atkinson Rd and Lily Lk. Rd,).....although County Rd #28 is close by and that leads to Hwy #7 (5 minutes up the road) or down to Hwy #401(at least 20 mins south).  Just to clarify a bit, it is the Trans Canada Trail that cuts through in that area.

I wonder if the Police found any tracks...footprints, tiretracks....

Who is ever to know if Lorraine drove her van to this area, could have been someone placed her van there. Knowing her temper, she may have had a confrontation that did not end well. I hope the police went over her va with a fine tooth comb and also her place of residence. A search warrant should be issued for her  home and surrounding propery. :o :o :o :o

Agreed....there is no 100% proof that Lorraine was the one that actually drove her vehicle to where it was found, even if her purse was found inside.

I also agree with that thought. There is only one witness who said that she drove off from her home.
No sightings of her anywhere.  Posters have been placed all around the area and other parts of Ontario. Any tips that have come in have dried up. No actual sighting of her anywhere, as far as I know.

Is the roadway lit up at night?  Sounds very rural and possibly dark at nite to me. If that is the case, perhaps that is why her vehicle was parked by the sub station - which would have lights on at nite.

Her car was in running order and had gas in it.  Why would she abandon a car right at that spot, if she wanted to "run away"?
I mean, why not use it to get as far away as possible.  Her family said that she would often be at the casino for a few days without returning home, so she would have had a good opportunity to put some distance behind her, if she chose to.  It would not be necessary to abandon the car.

Very odd that her purse was left in the glove compartment too.

The article said that she left in the family van.  Was this a one car family?? :-\

Lorraine's vehicle (not sure if it's their only one) was found near the entrance to the Trans Canada Trail....It's a multi-use recreational trail, and it actually does wind it's way across Canada.
I am thinking you are right about there only being lights at the substation, it is a rural area.  Next time I am out that way I will actually take a detour down Lily Lk Rd. and check out the area for myself.

OLDER ARTICLE http://www.mykawartha.com/community-story/3717046--how-does-someone-just-vanish-daughter-of-lorraine-roach-asks/
for quote purposes;

"(SELWYN) George Roach was the last one to see his wife Lorraine Roach.
She apparently was home at 2am to pick up more money for the casino. This was not a 'weird' or 'off' time for her to be up/going out. She was a night owl and frequented the casino late at night as well as being up all night at home with insomnia. She has also gone to the casino for extended periods and this did not seem off to us at first (I had called my dad the day before for mothers day and he said she was still at the casino from the night before and it did not seem strange to me or worry me) Also the cab companies did not report picking her up in that time.

Thanks for copying that, jellybean.  I had read that info previously, I should have forwarded it like you did.

Just want to mention that on the weekend news, that a woman was found dead in her home on Valley Rd. (which is just north of Peterborough).  They want anyone that saw anything suspicious to call the Police, but at this point haven't released any more info pending the Medical Examiner's report.  They did not say one way or the other if it was murder....so I am waiting for up-dates.  I am mentioning it on this thread for Lorraine, because Valley Rd is not that far north of Hwy #7.....north of Peterborough....Lorraine's van was found west of Peterborough.

A friend tells me Peterborough is where many of the inmates (sex crimes) released from Millhaven end up.....this is not official news, but this would not surprise me.

Hmm this I am sorry to say seems a little off.  The Daughter called the day before , which was mothers day. What mom doesnt be around to speak to her kids on mothers day? So she was still at the casino from the night before , and on mothers day? then still not home the next day , that seems a little off that would make it a three day stretch.  A person has to sleep some times.  So when was the last time any one saw her aside from the husband who in one artical said she left at 1:30 with out saying where she was going and in another article said she came home a 2:00 am for more money this makes me wonder , did the media get things all wrong , if not something doesnt sit right about that pic.  In canada the casinos are required by law to have videos and yet she was not seen on any video it says in yet another article .  Some think doesnt add up here in my mind.

I have to agree with you eyeswideopen...this story doesn't sit well with me either.  For some reason, I never clued in that Lorraine missed Mother's Day until you pointed it out.  hmmmm

Perhaps the CCTV at the casino did capture Lorraine leaving, let's say around 1:30 a.m. leaving the parking lot (to go home for more money).  So the last time she was on surveillance was when she left the casino, and she never made it back.
They need to go back into the area of Lily Lk Rd and Atkinson Trail and search again.  I wonder if hunters are allowed to hunt in that area.

I will go back and look but I did read it either here or on her missing on facebooks she was NOT captured in any videos.  Which makes we wonder how long was she really missing for before a report went in?

Thanks for going back to check for us Eyes.  Much appreciated.  Mothers day is May 12, she was reported missing May 11th.  I think what the daughter meant was she called a day before May 11th regarding Mother's Day? - Not for Mother's Day.

Lorraine had a cell phone.  Why wouldn't the daughter call her at the casino?  Did Lorraine give orders not to be disturbed when she was at the casino?

Also, in my home, in the past, the term family vehicle meant just that - one car for the family and everyone drove it.  If she had her own car, I would think it would be referred to as Her vehicle.
(This too, is confusing).

The (one vehicle theory) might explain why hubby didn't go to the casino to get her when she was away for any length of time.

All I can say is IF Lorraine was at the casino, there would definitely be video of her.....so what gives?  That particular casino also has a race track....for horses and I believe there may be car races once in a while too.
It is a small casino in relation to most.

Hubby and I were actually at that casino a few months ago....we went twice within 4 days.  Something weird caught my attention and I watched an older lady (around 60ish) and two men (younger) wandering around the casino...moving fast.  Then I noticed they were checking machines for cash-out tickets some patrons leave behind (penny or two)..and collecting them.
The next time we went, a few days later, I noticed the same older lady wandering around again....this time she sat next to an elderly man placing bets at a machine, and started a conversation with him.
Watching this lady, I wondered what the hell she was up to, I had the impression she was trying to take advantage of someone, anyone.
I hoped they had caught the attention of security and were hustled out....but I have no idea if that happened.

Here is another mystery to me.

Same Quote from a daughter

"I had called my dad the day before for mothers day and he said she was still at the casino from the night before and it did not seem strange to me or worry me) Also the cab companies did not report picking her up in that time./b]

The van was found locked and facing south (away from home)"

During the extended time that she was at the casino, obviously she had not taken the family car. (as cab companies were checked[/b

]How did she get there? and how did she get home to pick up more money for the casino and use the family car to head back to the casino?

 ???

Hi Jellyben,

I think that maybe a summary of "things" that were already investigated, no times of when these things were acknowledged has been given, the cab checking could have been done once the van was found, or van not found at casino.
