I see from google maps that Lorraine lived outside of the city of Peterborough...and her vehicle was found also outside of the city about 6.6 kms from home.

I like geographical profiling, and one thing that I have noticed....maybe means nothing, but thought I would mention it anyways....where Lorraine lives (rural road outside of Peterborough) there is a Hydro field (right of way) with the hydro towers...and where her car was found is also a Hydro field (right of way).
Hydro fields run through the province, of course, but this just niggles at me, the similarities of the two locations.  The Trans Canada trail is also there.

Creature of habit?  (either her or her perp if there is one).

I read on WS that Lorraine was a regular at the casino.  The post doesn't say which casino, but I will venture to say it was the one just south of Peterborough, on County Rd. #28.   (Where her vehicle was found is one of the routes she could take to get to the casino, but not a main route.)
Lorraine's daughter says it was not unusual for her to go to the casino in the middle of the night, not unusual for her to be there for extended periods.  That night she went missing she had come back home for more money, and then headed out again.  Her husband says she was not distressed.....

Her vehicle was found facing south (towards the casino).  Her purse was in the locked van, but not her phone and money.

The area she went missing from is very heavily treed.

wow Jobo thanks for sharing , that is troublesome for sure makes you think there just might be a tie in there.  Wonder if the cassino cameras were checked or if she won a large sum and some one followed her to her van? Just a thought .

I would hope that is one of the first things the Police did....check the surveillance cameras at the casino.  Then they would know for sure if Lorraine made it back there the second time.  It is a fairly small casino...and it would not be that busy at that time of night.

Any news on Lorraine Roach? This investigation reads so unusual, not leads, no clues yet. Wondering?

I doubt if it is suicide - as her money and cell phone are missing.  People with this intention, usually leave these things behind, and in her case it would have been left in her purse.

Jobo, you said her car was pointing towards the casino right?

Looks as though her car was parked neatly off the side of the road, and her car was locked.

It doesn't look as though  the car was hurriedly abandoned. Looks as though she did this herself? - or someone who knew her, and didn't want the car to be stolen.

This whole  scenario of where her car was found, parked neatly off the roadway, money and cellphone missing gives me the impression that someone "staged" it - to make it look like she was heading off to the casino, and made to look like a possible stop, pullover,  robbery and abduction.

Car just 7 km from her home. Parked beside Hydro Field which have lights on at night.  (Person would not be getting out of car in total darkness and stumbling around.)
No prints on grass, or any inkling that she had even been there - other than her car.
Which makes me wonder if she was there at all. ???

I mean, it just seems all too neat and tidy somehow.

Her car was sent to forensics.  Hopefully, le will find something in it - which may help to solve the mystery.
Here is her facebook page set up by her family.

My goodness, the searches by family are  still going on.

Bless them -

No one can spend the amount of time at a casino, like Lorraine two or three days in row was not uncommon, without returning home, by all reports.

To my mind, she had a debilitating illness, called Gambling.  It brings a family to rack and ruin.
They will lose a home, etc., and still they will continue on.... Casino's win - players will lose -
That is the logistics - and that is why Casino's exist.  Some people never get that into their head, unlike casual players - and Lorraine by all accounts was not a casual player.

I am amazed that her family accepted her absences from her home three days in a row,  at any one given time., which was not uncommon for her. Constant gambling?
I shudder to think of the $ amount of her losses.

Frankly, I haven't kept up enough with this case -- but I'm not sure it's fair yet to suggest this was an addiction and/or that she had significant losses. That may be true; it may not be. Maybe I've missed some more precise info. But I have only seen her daughter Charlotte (assuming that WAS really who was posting) indicate on WS that her mother had a hobby of spending free time at the casino.  Lorraine  might have played the penny slots for all I know.  She might have gone to the casino to enjoy the kind of social environment where it is OK for someone to arrive alone, rather than out of compulsive need. While I can see that a gambling addiction could have relevance to sleuthing, I prefer, unless there's a link to support these claims, for such intimations to be heavily contextualized as speculative only. MOO :)

The Casinos are smart....they are replacing many of their machines with penny machines where the minimum bet is 40cents, which in my opinion will take your $20 pretty fast.
From what I have read, Lorraine was at the Casino and went back home for more money to return with...and went missing (in the middle of the night) on her return back down to the Casino.  Where her car was found was back roads to the Casino, not the main County Rd.
It is heavily treed in the area her car was found, but I am surprised there has been no sign of her; the area is not that big to search.

If she was at the casino, a regular of sorts, wouldn't it seem possible that you would develop a co-dependency behavior with others that have a similar propensity for gambling? So, what if she had announced she needed to go home to get more cash. And, someone left with her. She got the cash. And, they took it from her on the way back to the casino where 1) they could gamble it away, and 2) their car was in the parking lot.

I would be checking the route between the house and where the car was found for Lorraine. In this hypothetical scenario, the perp likely would know that casinos often have some of the best surveillance. So, did anyone leave when Lorraine did? With Lorraine? Or, around the time Lorraine did? Did they get in her car with her to go home to get money? And, around the time Lorraine would be heading back into the casino, was anyone "walking" into the casino parking lot from the direction of the road Lorrain's car was found, around the time she was headed back?  Of course the perp wouldn't driver her car back to the casino...just far enough to walk back.

Does this thought pattern seem like something that could have happened?

That is a good possibility too.  I also am wondering about global amnesia - stress and anxiety can cause it. According to Lorraine's posts and her family, she suffered from anxiety.
Amnesia from an emotional trauma, or deep seated anxiety episodes can be sudden. - she could have parked that car and kept on going on foot without even knowing who she is.
Recall the woman in the Toronto woman's shelter who walked in there and had no idea who she was?  It turns out she is from the States.  She was eventually identified and  returned to her family (thankfully.)

Here we are at the end of August and not a peep as to where Lorraine might me - or even if someone may have spotted her. The police have stopped their searches until they receive a tip.

Seems as though she fell off the face of the earth.  I checked her facebook today, and if I have read it correctly, I believe that she has not been seen on any surveillance cameras either.  Am assuming it would also include the Casino.

I am sorry to say this but if she was not seen on any cameras then she did not go to the cassino wondering if they are checking close to home as well.
