mee10110, did you try the Salvation Army or the food pantrys in that area? They may know or have registry of him.

**** Correction - I'm sorry I misread this post. i originally thought Meee was looking for a stepfather suspected to be alive, in a certain area. I apologize that I didn't realize that Meee was trying to have confirmation that the body found was or was not her stepfather.  Eyes is correct, that confirmation is obtained by the police authorities upon contact. I have not seen any further public confirmation of identification of the deceased mentioned.  Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Its worth a try but to my last knowledge Salvation Army would give out no info about any of the people.  The police in scarbor usually know who the people on the street are , they might be worth a try.  That would be the Toronto police for scarbor.

I have not been able to find up dates, other than someing a while back that gave an age ruffly and it was a young man

This article explains more details. It appears they do know the man's identity, they have contacted family, and the death was medically related.  Hope this helps.

Police are investigating after a body was found in a Scarborough creek Sunday morning.

A man’s body was discovered in Rouge Park near Lawrence Ave. E. and Rouge Hills Dr. by a pedestrian around 11:30 a.m. The body was found lying in a creek that runs through the park and into Lake Ontario.

Police describe the body as that of an older male and say the death was medically related. They do not suspect foul play or suicide.

Police are currently contacting family of the deceased.

More to come.
