Question:

Why are many people unwilling to provide tips to police that could solve a murder?

Thanks for posting and helping to spread the word about our missing son.  We were up there in mid-Feb. to thank some folks who have helped in our search for Daniel, but still no sightings of Daniel.  The OPP have conducted ground, water and numerous air searches, but all negative.  At this point, no new leads, waiting for the waterways to clear of ice and then my husband will be going up for a search with some canoing friends, hope it warms up soon.  In the meantime, we keep the message out there, the more eyes and ears, the better.

Keeping Daniel in my prayers. I think this case exemplifies again that when people go missing, family and friends opinions matter. They know the person best, their habits and their history. If they believe the person is missing, they are missing. Precious time can be lost when people wait to see.

I too am hoping & praying for good news of Daniel this summer. It would be such a relief to hear that he roughed it through the winter and is making his way home in the nice weather now. I send wishes for strength and hope to his family and friends.

I read your link, wherecouldtheybe, and I see they found some of Daniel's clothing around Diamond Lake.  Sounds like the searchers are concentrating around that area now.
I know the owner of a resort on Lady Evelyn Lake I could contact (one of my kids worked there for a summer) but I see that the searchers have already contacted all owners of resorts/camps in the area.   The resort I know of, you can only get there by boat (Garden Island Resort).   They are big lakes and very much wilderness in that beatiful northern area.  It seems to be quite busy in the summertime with people coming for their week-long fishing vacations.
Did Daniel have a boat?

Jobo:  We had a friend working at Garden Island this summer, they are well aware of Daniel missing, north of where his winter clothing were found, but still good to spread the word.

The summer search by the OPP and our own did not turn up any further signs of Daniel.  So, we will be meeting with the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) search coordinator and others involved in the search next week to determine what else we can do.  It's so difficult dealing with the uncertainty, but we continue to take it day by day.

FYI, the forum is full, we had to start another one http://www.ottertooth.com/discus/messages/3/75578.html?1344623916

One year has passed and Daniel is still missing.  I struggled with an update, what to say but couldn't find the words.  Don Wright, says it best on Don's Brand New Day Blog -  http://keepupwithdon.blogspot.ca/2012/11/daniel-trask-one-year.html

What beautiful postings, in the links you provided, Trasker. I keep Daniel and your family in my prayers, like so many others are doing. I cannot imagine how difficult the year mark must be, but I hope you will continue strong, and have comfort in the many people who are keeping the search for Daniel open and sending wishes for answers to the universe.

Daniel is teaching us to be strong, even though we know this is his journey.  We just need to know he is safe, healthy and happy, that's all we could ever wish for either of our sons.  Thanks to the support of everyone on this site, helping to raise awarenes and be on the lookout for signs of Daniel.

Hi Dale, you are absolutely right, no one should go solo into the bush.  But, we believe Daniel was on his own journey, vision quest, self discovery.  A story written by Conor Mihell has been published in Explore magazine, Fall 2012, about his disappearance.  http://explore-mag.com/7779/adventure/the-story-behind-a-missing-man

We have conclude our fall search, now we wait for spring, again.

We have contacted MNR, hunters/trappers, logging, mines, snowmobile, canoe groups, outfitters, airways, etc.  If you have contacts to help spread the message, that would be great.  Are you familiar with Diamond Lake or Maple Mtn?

Here is a link to Daniel's Smile Box.

What a strong and beautiful young man! I am sure that Daniel gave his parents a deep sense of pride and joy.
