By the end of the day, about 1,000 had showed up to pay their respects. Armstrong only has a population of about 4500.

Not many are seen walking alone, hardly anyone is outside after dark. Murder in a small town changes many lives forever.

Police are to provide an update later today.

This murder, I think, was pre-meditated to be committed on Halloween, but the Victim was random.  I also get the feeling that the Perp might have been in costume too.   He could easily just blend in after the crime, and that was his demented plan.

The Police need to step it up...this latest news with them receiving a letter from the supposed Perp...makes me think that if they don't solve this terrible murder quickly, more will die.   If the town is only 4500 people, the Cops need to do a door to door talk with the residents....they will find their man.   (my opinion only)

Letter received,  Where have we heard this before?   Will this case go the same route as Joanne's, I hope not.

Joanne who?  What is your concern...I feel "creeped" by this and the way the police are keeping so many details...how is one to know who or what to look out for?

This gets into the really strange and bizarre category. No one has any way of knowing the authenticity of the letter but threatening comments of more victims to come were made supposedly by Taylor's killer. The Police have issued a public warning.

Joanne Pedersen- a letter writer has supposedly been sending in tips for years.

That just seemed such a strange and out of place remark that it is hard to fathom why he even said it?

thanks for the link to the other thread.

I think the police are suggesting that the letter writer may not be the killer...they may have said "its my fault" but may not be the actual killer.  The letter writer may be warning that there will be more violence unless the killer is stopped and the police may be sending a message to the writer saying in a way, if you know more, tell us so we can protect the public.   If its not that, then I agree...what a bizarre thing to say!

Sometimes police though decent people and well-meaning are not the brightest of bulbs and wind up making foolish-sounding statements to the media when put on the spot in a crisis. Another classic example is when the police on occasion wind up referring to a horrible killer in the media as "this gentleman" !

True, Just because someone is a Cop...doesn't mean they are comfortable in front of the Cameras.

Sorry guys, I don't have the same take as others do.  I think that this Cpl. was giving him a message, that Armstrong and its residence will be more carefully watched. And to let him know, not to try anything.
This Cpl has come up before. His name is very familiar (in a good way). I can't remember where.
It is funny how we readers will see things in different ways.  That's what makes life interesting.

Thanks Jobo.  Wow, now there is a cop that the detachment and his family can be proud of.
