Question:

Why are many people unwilling to provide tips to police that could solve a murder?

eyeswideopen:
I am wondering if Carols family still monitor this site?  Wonder if they have any kind of update.  Thoughts are still with the family.

Canuck00:
I think it's safe to say this case went cold. I mean, how could the RCMP have nothing on it? I would have guessed that the multiple crime scenes/suspicious scenes would be crawling with evidence, between the burnt house, the memorial, the car, the bank loans, ect, ect, ect. Public pressure has dried up to boot. Sad.

D1:
Very sad! And a sad conclusion to Carol's family requesting we not comment on here at a time when public pressure was most important. Meanwhile Carol has slipped off into oblivion with nothing but silence remaining, albeit a deafening silence.

jellybean:
DI, you are so right - but a few of us have continued with this thread, albeit tip toeing.  We know from experience that things can get to the back burner, and can be forgotten.

It would be nice if the RCMP assured the public that "Carol's murder is still being looked at" - but as you say nothing but silence.

I like to have positive thoughts, if the police are close to arrest, or deep into an investigation, they remain silent.
On the other hand, very often they say nothing - because they have nothing.
Leaves the public wondering that is for sure.
Less than comforting definately!!

Where does it stand?
Making headway?, or "just don't know where to go from here?", or we need the public's assistance via another  appeal to step up with any information that we, the public, may have ?

Silence is deafening - and the public is very  aware of it -- as we watch and we wait, to see what if anything happens.

What message does this leave for others who assault and murder people?  I get the impression of their being caught is a 50% chance that they won't be. I don't know the stats, but it would give a violent person reason enough to think that they could get away with it!!

Time grinds on, very cruelly so,  within this family.

They have no choice but to place their hopes in the RCMP. The family is at their mercy.  I hope  that her killer will be brought to justice.

Canuck00:
The RCMP, if they had even a shred of evidence, would have laid charges and held a suspect in custody while they continue to investigate and build a case, as long as they had that ONE thing. I can't see them leave a murderer roam free if they know who did it and have something to tie the case. 9 months has went by since she was killed, and pretty obvious they don't have anything, especially if they are looking for a purse within a 500 square mile radius.
