Family fears the worst after discovery of bodya family member who said they fear the body may be that of A.J Cachene.

Police have only said that the body was that of an adult male. It was noticed by two men who were checking on the condition of the Glen Reeve ball diamonds, located on the city's west end.

"First reaction: That's a strange place for somebody to be sleeping," Paul Foley, from the Raiders Softball Association, told CBC News Monday about what he saw. "Then we kind of went round again and said, 'I think that's somebody's body out there.'"

It is believed the body went unnnoticed because it was underneath snow in the park for some time.

The body was found near a bench behind the first baseline fence of ball diamond number five.

It was badly decomposed and officers from the Saskatoon police major crimes unit were still investigating how the man died and how he came to be in the ball diamond.

An autopsy was done Wednesday. However, CBC News was told that dental records will likely be needed to confirm the identity.

Cachene's brother and other family members were gathering at their home reserve to await news of any further developments in the case.

There was no reports on the Saskatoon Police Service website that Archie was missing since in January 2011.  I wonder about that... the reason the family suspected it was Archie was that his identification was found with the body and it ruled out the other missing man in Saskatoon.  Prayers that this will be solved.  RIP Archie!

Subject: Update - Human Remains Discovered/Holiday Park (rel# 247, 254)

The Saskatoon Police Service, Major Crimes Section, is requesting public assistance in the investigation into the discovery of human remains on April 10, 2011.

The remains, discovered at a ball diamond, have since been identified as belonging to 20 year old Archie Cachene. An autopsy was conducted and did not reveal any physical evidence to indicate he was the victim of foul play. Investigators have no reason to suspect foul play that this time, however they are trying to retrace his movements in the time before his death.

Family members report last seeing Archie Cachene at a home in the 1600 block of 22nd Street West, between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on the evening of January 28, 2011. Before leaving that location he told family members he was planning to meet up with friends.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen Archie Cachene after that time to contact 975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Perhaps this thread should be changed to Archie Cachene, found deceased Saskatoon... or something to that effect?
