3 Convicts escaped from Maple Ridge - December 30, 2010
« on: December 31, 2010, 04:32:40 PM »

Police and Corrections Canada are searching for three convicts who escaped Thursday afternoon while working near a large Maple Ridge park as part of a work crew.

The men, who were incarcerated at the Fraser Regional Correctional Centre, disappeared about 12:30 p.m. while working near Alco Park, a 27-acre site on Alouette Road with trails, picnic areas and rivers.

The RCMP issued a press release just before 4 p.m. Thursday to alert the public about the escapees, and described them as:

- Douglas Erickson, 42, who is Caucasian, 173 cm tall (five foot, eight inches) and 84 kgs (185 pounds), with brown eyes, and short brown hair. He has two tattoos, of a dragon and a tazmanian devil, on his right shoulder.

- Ryan Plotnikoff, 30, who is Caucasian, 193 cm (six feet, four inches) and 95 kgs (209 pounds), with blue eyes and short brown hair. He has a sickle and hammer tattoo on a finger on his right hand, and a maple leaf on a finger on his left hand.

- David Traill, 48, who is Caucasian, 180 cm (five feet, 11 inches) and 75 kgs (165 pounds), with hazel eyes and short blond hair that is balding. He has a goatee style beard (which is not shown in the photo released by police) and numerous tattoos.

All three were wearing red prison clothing.

They may have been picked up by a blue or grey sedan that was seen in the area, Ridge Meadows RCMP Insp. Derren Lench said in a statement.

It was not known by late Thursday afternoon where the trio was heading, he added.

"It is not felt the escapees will be violent; however anyone who sees these men should not approach, but call police," Lench said.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251, your home police agency, or CRIME STOPPERS at 1 800 222-8477.
