Chatham-Kent Police continue to seek the public's help in finding a missing woman.

Nelie Bueckert, 32, has been missing since May 17.

Police said the Chatham resident hasn't accessed her bank since her disappearance.

The woman may hide in outbuildings such as barns or sheds and people are asked to check their properties, police said.

It has been reported that Bueckert has a diminished mental capacity and may be experiencing a mental health crisis.
She is described as white, approximately 5'5" tall, 184 pounds, with brown shoulder-length hair, hazel eyes, and visible missing upper teeth. Her current clothing is unknown.

Police said she has a history of going away without notice. Her usual mode of transportation is walking and in the past she has been found walking or hiding in rural areas.

Bueckert has contacts in the Ridgetown, Aylmer and Leamington areas, but is not believed to have been in contact with friends or family since January.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Const. Paul Brophy at 519-436- 6600, ext. 207, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 222-TIPS (8477).

You have to give the LE credit for making a YouTube video to find a missing person.   Nelie Buekert has not had any contact with friends since January. Has not been seen since May, 2010. Has not accessed her bank or health cards.  Let's hope some very alert citizens can help find this young lady. Nice job, LE.

There are two threads for this person, my fault. How do we combine them?

They found human remains on October 22, 2010 but say it is too early to tell if it is Nelie.

Human remains found by hunters in a local woodlot are those of missing woman Nelie Bueckert.

The 32-year-old Chatham-Kent woman went missing in May.

The remains were found Friday in a forest on Darrell Line between Highway 40 and Prince Albert Road. With the help of a forensic anthropologist, the body was removed from the woods over the weekend and a postmortem was conducted Monday.

Const. Michael Pearce, of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, said her dental records were compared to the body to determine identification.

The cause and manner of how Bueckert died aren't yet known, Pearce said.

"We treat any death as suspicious until proven otherwise," he said.

"At this point in time we have not proven otherwise so this investigation remains open."

He noted the police are assisting in the coroner's investigation.

Bueckert's family has been notified and Pearce said her family is in the process of making funeral arrangements.

He said the police service offers condolences to the family and friends of the woman.

Anyone with information is asked to call the major crime unit at 519-436-6616 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS
