Kahnawake Peacekeepers are investigating human remains discovered Monday afternoon near the Mercier Bridge.

A construction worker found bones and a skull on the south shore, between routes 138 and 132.

The remains were hidden underneath saplings and branches, leading police to declare the area a crime scene.

A forensics investigator is examining the remains, and trying to determine whether they belong to a man or a woman, and the approximate age of the person.

Police hope that preliminary results will be available as of Thursday.

Kahnawake Mohawk Peacekeepers are investigating after a human skull and bones were found near the Mercier Bridge on Monday.

The bones were found in a wooded area by a construction worker completing repair work on the bridge, off Montreal's south shore.

"There was some debris, some trees, some small saplings that had been placed to cover the remains," KMP investigator Warren White told CBC News on Tuesday.

The bones were sent to the provincial police forensic lab for identification, said White. The process is not expected to be completed before Thursday.

The area is being treated as a crime scene, but White said it is too soon to link the remains to any missing persons' cases.

"Nobody wants to say that it is a missing girl that we have from our community but I mean there is always that possibility," said White.

Later this month will mark the fourth anniversary of the disappearance of Tiffany Morrison.

The woman was 25 when she was last seen in the Mohawk community.

The authorities are confirming these remains are those of Tiffany Morrison. We have a thread on here for her, and I have posted the announcement there as well.

KAHNAWAKE, QC- Mohawk Peacekeepers have confirmed that the human remains found by a construction worker Monday in a wooded area near the Mercier Bridge are those of Tiffany Morrison.

The remains and a skull were found off the service road of Highway 138.

Morrison, a 25-year-old Mohawk woman, disappeared in June 2006 after she left a bar in LaSalle and shared a taxi back to Kahnawake with a man from the community. The remains were sent to a crime lab for verification.

More to come.

Thanks Concerned for your due diligence on this for the public, and for us on this web-site.  The family will now have some closure, in finding her remains, and at least can have a burial for her.  Bless them!!
