I found this story last week and have been trying to see if there is a missing man in the area. Ran across a story about Brent Staple still missing. I wonder if they are connected.  Unfortunately, this article does not provide many details to go by.

Human remains identified as male
By: Staff Writer
19/05/2010 1:00 AM
THE skull and other human remains found last week in the yard of a resident in the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne have been identified as male.
The RCMP said an autopsy concluded the remains were that of a male but added there is no indication of foul play.
The autopsy did not reveal the identity or age of deceased man.
The RCMP said it's continuing its investigation to determine how long the remains had been at the site.

Strange.  I see that it was in a rural area, but how big can a yard of a resident be- not to have been discovered. This does not make any sense at all. I mean long enough to skeletonize?
Even a farm has a yard. Something is wierd about that residence. The only thing I can think of , is that it is the sole owner who passed away on his own property. I would be surprised if it was Brent.

I'm thinking sleuthers familar with Winnipeg geography should be able to figure something out here.

maybe the older man was the owner of the property.... it's all a far reach though because how many lone occupants have farms in rural Winnipeg.

There is actually a picture of the older man on the above link.... quite clear considering....somebody should be able to identify the man.

A surveillance video, taken just after 6 p.m. on June 28, 2009, shows Brent Staple leaving his Summerland apartment building with an older man who walked with a distinct limp.

So we got a pic of Brent's associate.....
We know they were together last time anyone seen Brent (which was at the Summerland Apt. build.
And there's a pic of the older associate.

Where are the Winnipeg sleuths?

It is also quite possible that this man was leaving the building at the same time as Brent, and had nothing to do with it.

true jellybean.... I often walk out of my building with another person... laughing joking ....usually don't even know them personally ...just know who they are visiting as this is a small building.  You would think investigators would ascertain who this man was visiting, if he wasn't an actual tenant.

again jellybean you are right about this; nowhere does it say they were companions .... or even if they had gotten into the same car, one guy might have gotten a drive from the other... or they may have walked in the same direction coincidentally.    News sources sure don't do much investigative reporting....seem to be lazy, and just get a few vague facts from police.  This country is pitifully lacking in investigative reporting.

And you can bet the police have already found out who the older guy was.  They would be some stupid in this day and age if they haven't gotten at least that far.

I saw a video of this man leaving the building, and I am sure it was on this site (somewhere) Brent was carrying two bags. What kind of bags? shopping type bags, duffel bags? Finding male (porno) on his computer might be a clue.  Perhaps Brent was leading a closet type of life, and hadn't "come out" yet with his family.  Maybe yes and maybe not. But perhaps he had a jealous male friend. I would certainly scrutinize his male friends, as well as show his picture around gay clubs. Might get a lead there. Oh, how I feel for his family. This can happen to any family member.

There was an emotional plea from Brent's parents from last year. Sad. Shows the last pics of Brent leaving his building.

There is a picture of Brent on this site:
http://www.pembinavalleyonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12095&Itemid=315

This article indicates he left behind his truck, laptop and cellphone. The article states: The missing persons unit of the Winnipeg Police Service has suggested to his family that he could have left of his own accord and wants to be left alone, but Corinne Staple said she refuses to believe that."

Again, does this mean the police have information that he disappeared on his own, if they tell the family this, or is it just a statement about possibility.  If police find that a person is missing on their own accord what are they obligated to say, or not say to the family?

Here is a more recent plea from the private investigator:

Winnipeg man's family needs your help
CJOB News Team reporting
5/14/2010

The family of a Winnipeg man wants your help to find Brent Staple. He has been missing for more than 10 months.
Corinne Staple says her brother was last seen in late June of 2009.

A surveillance video, taken just after 6 p.m. on June 28, 2009, shows Brent Staple leaving his Summerland apartment building with an older man who walked with a distinct limp. Brent Staple was carrying two bags.

The family has hired a private investigator, who called it strange no one has come forward to identify the older man with the limp.
If you can help out call the Winnipeg Police missing persons unit at 986-6250.

Sounds to me that these are lazy cops.  Once they discovered that he was gay.  It really didn't matter.  Brent would not leave his parents and sister like that.  Sounds to me that he was a wonderful son, and brother. What happened to Brent Staple?

Why, all I can say is Why.  Why would this man do this to his family?  Why would he hurt so many people? Why could he not just say I dont want to have contact with you any more I am moving away.  One hell on an inconsiderate jerk in my opinion to do this to his family.  Karma will get him I say.

Thanks Pandabear. Looks like Brent followed his dream for a new life and is safe. That must have been such a relief to his family but why would he not let them know earlier? That is pretty cruel to put family through all that.

It does seem cruel but there are two sides to every story and often the truth lies somewhere in the middle.  Maybe he didn't feel he could "come out" and be accepted by his family.

Perhaps that's the truth justsayin. As an adult he is allowed to be 'missing'.

It would be very hard as a family, to have a loved one missing and go through all the emotions for this length of time. I'm sure that while they are relieved and happy that he is alive and well, there must be much hurt and confusion about why he felt he needed to disappear and not let anyone know he was safe.

Funny, you should say that justsaying - I posted a similar thought when he first disappeared.  But leaving behind his cell phone etc, threw me off.
