Jailed killer fears for life, court told
Inmate cites 'run-in' with female guard
By Trevor Wilhelm, The Windsor Star June 2, 2010

A convicted killer charged with a second murder and suspected of three others told a judge Tuesday that he fears for his life behind bars at the hands of corrections officers.

Peter Dale MacDonald, who appeared briefly in court on a second-degree murder charge, said he's been the victim of "harassment of a very insidious nature" after a "run-in with a female guard.

"It's well documented I'm having serious problems with guards," MacDonald said before being escorted back to jail. "My life is in danger in the Ontario region....

Other Highlights:
 - He was suppose to plead guilty, but didn't.
 - His defence lawyer Bob DiPietro says they are negotiating, but nothing about a definite plea. At this time he pleaded not guilty and asked for trial.
 - He says he has an issue with a female guard that has caused him a lot of problems.
 - He can apply for voluntary transfer to a facility of his choice, consistent with the offender's security level.

Peter Dale MacDonald charged in connection with the 1994 slayings of Julianne Middleton, 23, and Virginia Lee Coote, 33, and the 1997 killing of Darlene McNeill, 35.

It will be interesting to find out when Peter Dale MacDonald was arrested and incarcerated for the murder he has been convicted of - James Campbell.  The murder occurred in 2000 but so far it seems the arrest came later.

I'm wondering because of the unidentified female remains found at the gate to the Darlington Nuclear Plant, Bowmanville in October 2006, similar to Michelle being found at the gate to the Ford Plant, Windsor.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/story/2012/02/23/wdr-peter-dale-macdonald-manslaughter.html

Convicted killer Peter Dale MacDonald pleaded guilty to manslaughter Thursday in the 2000 killing of Michelle Charette.

The 40-year-old woman was strangled. Her half naked body was found in a vacant lot off Drouillard Road near a Ford factory.

The plea came as a surprise. MacDonald was originally in court Thursday to see if he was fit to stand trial in the Charette case.

MacDonald, who is originally from Summerside, PEI, was sentenced Thursday to seven years in prison.

In court, the killer apologized to Charette's father.

"I'm glad that he's at where he's at, so he don't kill nobody else. I hope he's there for life," George Charette said outside court. "I appreciate him admitting it, but ... that doesn't bring Michelle back."

MacDonald, 53, is already in prison for the April 2000 murder of 63-year-old James Campbell and charged with three other killings in Toronto.

Campbell was found strangled in MacDonald's apartment in Toronto's Parkdale neighbourhood.

MacDonald was convicted of second-degree murder in the Campbell case and is currently serving a life sentence. The seven-year sentence imposed Thursday will be served concurrently.

MacDonald was also charged with killing Julie Ann Middleton, 23, Virginia Coote, 33, and Darlene MacNeill, 35, whose bodies were found in Lake Ontario in Toronto's west end between 1994 and 1997.

The three women all died under similar circumstances; sexually assaulted and strangled.

Those charges were later dropped.

The Crown withdrew the charges "because there is no longer any reasonable prospect of conviction," Brendan Crawley, a spokesman for the attorney general's office, wrote in an email to CBC News last year

Wow, I'm from Windsor and I have NEVER heard of this case.  Odd, Windsor is a small town and I for sure would have remembered this had I heard of it.  Was Michelle involved in the sex trade at all or were they from out of town?  Those are the only two scenarios I could think of where such a crime would not have been reported (sadly, people still do not pay attention when someone who was a sex trade worker is killed).

Only seven years and manslaughter conviction when it should be 1st degree murder (due to sex assault) and lifetime conviction. I hope he stays in for life for his other murder conviction (s).

Michelle was my ex's aunt and her mother's sister. I was with them the day her murderer was found - it was a very depressing few days for her mother, to say the least. Not only was this woman kind, but I had seen her as a child going to New Song Church on Droulliard. Michelle used to help her sister out, cooking for her children before an unfortunate turn of events when my ex's mother fell asleep at the wheel and rolled with her kids inside. I always felt great pain for this family, though I and my ex met an end (which is good - very good).
Michelle was also an excellent cook, from what I heard, and I wish this hadn't happened to her. I came across this forum and for fun I searched her aunt - and I found her.

Something is horribly wrong with our Justice System!! 7 Years only?  For taking a life?

I am appalled and totally disgusted!!

Shame on our Justice System!! Shame on the Judge, shame on our government with their Federal Laws.
Something needs to be changed drastically.

A loss of a human life is worth more than 7 years of jail time.

The sentence  gives no value to a human life whatsoever.

This was a human being murdered.

Michelle's life  was worth nothing??
Guess not!!  Just worth 7 lousy years out of his lifetime

Next to her genitals was a stick.

Lizzie Tomlinson came to mind when I saw this. The poor little girl was impaled with a woody stalk/weed of some kind. His criminal record dates back to 1975, and he has murdered in Toronto. I believe there was a cigarette butt found at Lizzie's body as well. I wonder if that would be worth looking into.
