Yes this guy is bizarre--but forensics will decide.  He is-or he isn't MH based on that. It's not likely that Howe, who has escaped detection all of these years, would draw media attention to himself.  But lets get the testing done, and end this guy's 15 minutes of fame.  He is a character--lol.

"The question of who killed Sharin' has been in little doubt for detectives: Howe had rented the apartment, he disappeared after the murder, his fingerprints were in the apartment and his genetic material on Sharin's remains."

Quote from above link:

"Gallant appealed to any of Howe's relatives, specifically his nieces and nephews and his child, to contact investigators with any information about his whereabouts."

Howe's family never helped police find him three decades ago, even though one brother seemed to have contact with him after he fled Toronto to the USA.

This is a worthwhile venture by Toronto police after all these years. Those who protected Howe are dead or old. It is time for the descendants to speak up.  Family loyalty (sick as it is) that protected a monster in their midst is diminished with time. I hope that the next generation will realize how important it is to solve this case..dead or alive.

I believe Howe is deceased. He probably drank himself to death, completely homeless.

This is one of the saddest cases we have on Unsolved.

Sharin' Morningstar - was a name carefully chosen by her family - and it is a beautiful name.
Her life was Taken by a monster - but she is not forgotten.
