Trevor Angell | Missing (sept 2000)
« on: August 20, 2009, 05:04:18 PM »
Trevor Angell worked for a Calgary trucking company, and went missing in September of 2000.  There seems to be little information about him on the internet.  Does anyone know much about this case other than what I have found on the Alberta Missing Persons Site?

I don't know him, It's just a case that seems to have caught my attention, as have a few others.  I was just wondering if there was any more news that someone else may have heard.

Still no Trevor. His family turned to AMW after trying everything else.

I don't like to be talking about remains when the family is so hopeful, yet I wonder, since these seem to be the only remains mentioned in the area where Trevor's truck was found ...

Hi SAP - Those remains were identified as Carlos Leon-Martinez :

http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=6&sqi=2&ved=0CD8QFjAF&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kolotv.com%2Fhome%2Fheadlines%2F48680122.html&ei=jj6LTvP4EsPj0QG87anJBA&usg=AFQjCNGWcCN680o0ibpaeY7qfsvshFu99w

I contacted Rick Jones of the Clark County Coroner/Medical Examiners Office concerning several unidentified remains...but unfortunately - none were a match.  Nice to see people are still keeping Trevor in their minds and hearts after all these years.

Thanks for checking, Natalie. I had actually contacted the LV dept by mistake and received a reply of whom to contact but hadn't yet.
I was hopeful the Angell family might get some answers after all this time. Yes I try to go through the older missing person frequently, hoping to find some information.

Are you related to Trevor or had known him?

SAP - No I'm not related.  This was a pet project for a while - mainly due to the fact my brother worked for the same company as Trevor's  Dad. I spent a few months in my spare time searching.  This was before I found this site .... but now I find this is a good starting point.
The thing that overwhelms me sometimes - is once you start looking you are drawn into soooo many other stories until you need a break from it all.  I suppose this happens to you too?

My latest project is Caroline Burns of Molanosa.  Missing since January of 1973.  I've walked the area  a couple times on "berry-picking" trips and plan to continue.

According to AMW, Trevor stayed at Whiskey Petes. Which is not a "truck stop" as we think of it, and I assumed he stayed at a truck stop.

His truck was not taken (stolen)
I am wondering if Trevor, unknown to his family, played the casino there whenever he was on that route?

Yes I hear you, although I haven't gotten as close as you do in searching, except in the case of a number of girls missing and murdered in Edmonton where I walked the steps they once did. I spook easy. So I need to muster up the courage to go back to the area to enlist the help of a local businessman to help get some action on a property investigation. Presently I am having unsettling dreams of some missing and this never happened before, so I think it's time to take a break. Or else let them lead me ...

Oh by the way, Welcome to Unsolved. :)

Hi Natalie and welcome:

After reading your post I decided to start a thread for Caroline. Her thread can be found under Saskatchewan, other locations.

Yes Jb, one of the articles mentioned that his truck was untouched as he left it, with all his ID etc. Perhaps he did do some gambling and seems I have read something to that effect. Trevor seems like a very friendly type of person and perhaps befriended the wrong person.
I found Security at Vegas quite heavy when I was there. We were even watched steadfastly as we looked in on a card game (trying to learn something) but I felt we were treated like thieves for some reason. A friend of a friend won some money there at some machines just before leaving the place ... a last quick gamble with change. I think it was a small jackpot of 5000. They filled their purses, pockets, etc and then were robbed after they went outside the establishment; thief got the bulk of her winnings and dashed.
I suspect Trevor could have run into misfortune like that, or similar and held on ... facing a worse fate.
My dtr was there not long ago and her purse was stolen. She had 2 credit cards and the thief took one only and left the rest laying. He wasn't caught.
I imagine the security in the place is only concerned with their interests more so than their patrons.

JB - You could be right.  I've been to Whiskey Pete's and they definitely cater to truckers.  The rooms are really cheap and they have a shuttle so truckers don't have to drive their trucks to other casinos.

It's been a while since I visited this case......You have given me a new direction.   Maybe I'll spend a little time on it over the next few days.

Thanks for the warm welcomes....And thank you as well Debbiec.   Caroline's case seems almost lost to history.
