This is the third very unlucky, horrific happening for Pictou County within a short month. It doesn't rain but it pours. How incredibly awful for the residents.

The sex offenders and perverts in Pictou County must have a club.....there's been quite a few found and charged lately......never used to be that way......my 4.5 year old and I had a talk about strangers yesterday.  There are so many people oblivious to who Matheson is. They just know he lives there now.  Why didn't they print this in local papers. Just in the Herald, so frustrating.

I can understand your frustration Oryx. That was a failure by local LE imo. I like the American way as they now alert the communities when a pedo is discharged into a community and more recently it has been done here in the west (Canada). This man Matheson could fool anyone as he looks like a respectable business man. The LE, imo, OWE the community some answers!

Yet I read a happening in NG from 2009 where an elderly couple who went shopping, saw some young kids and the man simply waved at the kids ... both ending up in locked cells at the local police station b/c someone thought they were child abductors. They were put through the whole 9 yards of questioning and sampling along with yellow police scene tapes. ::)
Was it the same department that failed to warn residents of this malicious pedophile?

I am unsure which LE would be responsible for notifying the general public.  The Pictou/RCMP detachment, New Glasgow Police Services?  Or perhaps it should have been in the local Pictou Advocate Paper, as well as the New Glasgow News.  Either way...in Pictou Co in the past two years there have been at least a handful of males ranging in ages charged, or alleged to be making and distributing child porn?!   Is child porn that profitable that well respected members of the community must supplement their earnings by disgracing young children? I think not.   One of those accused of this was a guy I've known since I was in elementary school.  The news of this floored our community, and yet he still walks among us.  I'm so angry with the system.  Our children are precious, they are wonderful, and they deserve respect and their innocence kept in place......boy am I on a rant...  :o

Here in Ab it was the local RCMP in the town near where the pedo moved to that made the announcement in the media along with a warning against vigilante justice.
I think your policing is different form outs. In Edmonton we have the City Police with secondary being RCMP depending what the crime is. I live in a small city outside Edmonton and we have only RCMP and all small town have only RCMP as well. Reserves have special constables that fall under RCMP.

Oryx;  I have been trying to keep track of publicized sex offenders; if I get anything at all, I dig further looking for more info. (other charges, convictions, rumors anything... and especially a picture)  As I've said before, if the authorities won't do it, I'll at least, try.

It seems to me, that the authorities try to get this out (they have children and loved one too), but their hands are partly tied by pressure from half-baked protection laws for such offenders.  (the John Howard Society, and other well-meaning org./s that do their best to clean up ex-cons and turn them into normal and productive members of society, do their best, but it's a catch 22)  Ergo, these warnings are tucked in out-of-the-way spots in Newspapers etc. ....for fear of vigilantes out there.  The authorities and organizations trying to deal with this stuff have to protect themselves too.

So, Oryx - I say, keep  your eyes open; gather up these notices whenever, wherever possible, and either send them to me or go into this thread and post them when you get them.  It's the only way I can figure out to help protect our children and grandchild.  ...and lets not forget the rapists etc. trolling for our women.  If you can help, it will ease your mind and a little bit of effort on this matter goes a long ways.

Well hello everyone,

My name is Dave Mantin and I am the Atlantic Canada SNAP Director and we stand behind these victims in the MacIntosh case and for all the victims that are still suffering, I have noticed some of my articles here on your site to shine public attention to the problem with this case and how all cases are handled in N.S.

We here at SNAP are victims helping victims through the rough process, and to ensure that justice will be done in the case, that is why we have stepped into the MacInstosh case and demanded a federal public inquiry to get to the truth of the cover ups and lies that these victims were told.

We are also reaching out to all victims of sexual abuse to contact us and together we can help to get you through these times.  Bar1061, I have mentioned many times on the phone how glad I am that you have stepped forward and bringing this into the public eye and we here at SNAP will ensure that it will not go away.l

Dave,

I would like to be the first to welcome you to this site and I thank you for all that you do to help the people who are abused.
I grew up in a RC household/school and have many childhood friends that were abused by the clergy in Atlantic Canada. (priests AND Nunns)
The RC church just moved the offenders to another community and that simply disgusts me frankly.
Does your organization have anything in the works to expose the higher levels in the RC church that moved these pervs around and basically hide them from the wrath of the courts?

Albert LeBlanc to return on Aug. 17 to be sentenced.

The 83-year-old LeBlanc now lives in Bouctouche, N.B., and has been ordered to have no contact with children under 16, with no exceptions.

Remember this pedo face kids:

LeBlanc faced 50 counts, all alleging sexual abuse of boys during his days in Yarmouth County, where he worked first as a priest and later, after he left the priesthood in 1975 as a probation officer.

He pleaded guilty to six counts, each with the name of a different victim attached.

The remaining 44 charges will be placed in abeyance until sentencing.

Defence lawyer Gilles Lemieux says he hopes the remaining charges will be stayed at that time.

A presentence report will be prepared in time for the Aug. 17 sentencing.

LeBlanc, who married after leaving the priesthood, originally faced 40 counts of gross indecency and indecent assault spanning 15 years, beginning in 1970.

But in March 2011, it was revealed LeBlanc would face 10 additional charges, also dating back to the 1970s.

A big "hats off" to Sylvia's Site for actually building a pedophile portfolio on this perv.  going back decades.  What a shocking read!!!!! >:( >:(

http://www.theinquiry.ca/wordpress/charged/leblanc-father-albert-leblanc/

How is God's name will so many precious victims ever get over the impact on their lives?  I pray they get pass the "contamination" and seeing this bastardly creep exposed brings them healing and a sense of the fact that they are great boys... even after suffering innocent trappings of a manipulative pedophile.... one who was taught how to control and manipulate those in his care.  If the inmates don't get him (and they probably won't because these guys have their own appointed jail/resting spa since years) the devil definitely will get him ....or else he'll spend a horrifying afterlife trying to run from the devil.  The table will always turn pedo: what goes around comes around.  Now these boys got you where they want you ......bravo for their bravery and pride in their innocence.... and bravo for the families and supporting loved one and the public.... as we here support and respect these guys all the way.  We are aware of what they've gotten past... so they are loved.... and you Fr. al  (seems that Fr. is synomomous with pedophile now - what a paradox!) are hated.

Thank you SNAP for bringing up a topic, which most of us in society turn away from.

I am not Catholic, thankfully, however, there are also those in the Anglican Church who have also been accused of child abuse.

The most shocking thing for me, is that Nuns which we associate with the Catholic Church, who join an order to follow in the footsteps of the Virgin Mary, (of whom I believe in) who could for one moment also be cruel and look the other way, is totally depraved, misguided and disgusting.

Bring these nuns to court as well - Why should they be left "innocent", and why should it be only Priests?  Nuns who have stepped over the line, should also stand before the courts!!To date, I see this lacking.

The whipping of children, and deprivation for what is deemed by the Nuns  as misbehaviour is "CHILD ABUSE" The looking "away" when the Father makes a private visit with a child in the ward, having some thought that something fishy is going, and doing nothing, also makes them complicit.

These cruel actions by SOME Nuns goes against Motherhood and the protection, and caring of children, is beyond belief.

Weed out the "devils"  Priests, and NUNs (which they are) and expose them for what they stand for - I say!!

I have many friends and relatives who are Catholics and I admire them.

HOWEVER, THIS SHOULD STAND ON ANY RELIGION WHO ABUSES CHILDREN, and in many HORRIFIC WAYS.

The good news is, it is finally all coming out by very brave parishioners, AND VICTIMS,  who are speaking out!!
It takes courage, and I am proud of them.

They (these perverts),  regardless of their pious stance in religion,  will never find their way into the Grace of God.

It doesn't matter how many prayers of penance, how many Holy Mary's, how much incense they can burn, it will never clear  them of the terrible acts of which they have been involved in.
There are too many victims left in their wake -
I
n fact, there should never be ONE VICTIM.

And those sisters who caused pain and abuse of young children (since they hide by their original identity, and given separate names by the church, should also be held ACCOUNTABLE, AND STAND BEFORE THE COURT OF THE LAW!!

Oh, I think I get it, Mary Jones, may be called Sister Elizabeth, and only the CHURCH HOLDS THEIR IDENTITIES,
and these records are CONFIDENTIAL.
Well it is time that the Court of Law, gets their real  names and charges them accordingly.
How these people can have immunity, to my mind, is beyond belief!!

If I ever treated my children the way that Nuns did, I would be charged with Child Abuse.  WHY ARE THESE NUNS IMMUNE TO IT?

Knight a 'high risk' to reoffend
CBC News Posted: May 25, 2012 3:45 PM AT Last Updated: May 25, 2012 3:55 PM AT

Kenneth Knight poses a high risk of re-offending, police say. Halifax police issued a warning Friday about a sex offender released from prison for offences against children.

Kenneth Gerald Knight, 43, poses a "high risk to reoffend in a sexual manner," said Const. Brian Palmeter. He said the warning was to all Nova Scotians, but particularly residents of Halifax Regional Municipality.

"Knight has a criminal history involving offences against young children and has been professionally assessed as a high risk to re-offend in a sexual manner," Palmeter said in a media release.

As part of the conditions of his release, Knight is under a number of conditions, including having no contact with children under the age of 14.

Knight is described as a 5"9 white man weighing 177 pounds. He has grey hair, hazel eyes, a moustache and wears glasses.

"This information is provided to alert members of the public of his release into the community. Any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct will not be tolerated," Palmeter added.

Anybody got a pic of him without the mustache.... I think we need to try and gather pics of these pervs with and without glasses for instance.

This time it goes to the highest court in the land ... after the Provincial Court set him free (typical NS), now the battle goes to Supreme Court... It's been 14 years since original charged.

Quote
The court announced Thursday that it granted the Crown leave to appeal a decision of the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal that threw out 17 sexual convictions against MacIntosh. It did not comment on the reasons for its decision.[/quote]

Here's the full report in today's news:

We will see where this one goes.  There are only three charges against this man. ...and I don't know the ages of those involved.
