I think the sex offender label should only be used for those who molest kids, rape and stuff like that. Not flashers, people who get caught having sex in public and crap like that.

They really should do a re-offend study only based on sex crimes with children and forcible rape.

I do agree with hyou about innocent until guilty. Many times I have read that as many as 10% of rape or molestation accusations are fake. And for those who make those claims, they should be punished hard. How many times have we heard about men getting out of prison because the DNA did not match in rape cases. Scary!

I just don't get it - we release people deemed to be a danger to society back into society and Harper wants to build more jails.  Who does Harper think belongs in the new jails?

It is incredible, in light of the escalating sexual assaults on our children, to see a judge take pity on a dangerous, vile and violent pedophile. The judge believed him that he was sorry--and she has hopes that he will be rehabilitated. Seriously--can a judge be this clueless in 2013?

There have been remarkable advancements recently in the study of the human brain.

Researchers recently found ways to track the neurological pathways in a teenagers brain, and they discovered the brain performs a substantial amount of re-arranging information at that age, due to the physical expansion of the brain mass. The discovery explains a lot about the perplexing behaviour of many teenagers. The comparison was made to moving thousands of books from a small room into a much larger room at random, and then quickly try to find the information needed in one of them.

Perhaps one day, researchers will discover how to medically redirect the pathways of those with an affinity towards sex crimes, hopefully even before they offend.

It is either that.............or keep building prisons forever.

Interesting points Ardy. Thank you. :) If at the teenage years some scrambling could be done to redirect information and thoughts into constructive patterns that would be great. Is it possible it can be done without being invasive?
