I don't actually remember this matter.  I don't know the details of Ms. Cross, if she was married or living apart from someone.  This is a tragic situation, such a big reward and noone has come forward.  I do hope that at some time this will be solved.  We need more police here in Nova Scotia, especially in the Halifax area to solve some of these disappearances and murders.   ::) ::)

They should take the 1 billion for gun registry and spend it on getting 100 or so investigators in Canada to spend all there time looking into unsolved murders and missing people. Nothing like boots on the ground to solve cases right.

I agree Chris, if they don't get the information in the first days of the crime, what chance is there. I mean someone has to know something about these crimes.  There should be a special investigative unit for such crimes, versed in how to handle the situation. They miss a lot at the initial site, I think.  More officers well trained in cases like this couldn't hurt, that's for sure.   8)

Especially these days when criminals seem to know how the police oeprate. These investigators are so over worked, it is hard to balance all that work.

You know what gets me? It is the never ending killings that are happening across this beautiful land. ??? ???

WTF is going on, it is never ending, and so many of these slaying cockroaches are scattering all over.

How many psychoes are we looking at? We definately need more investigators, and people who work in the world of SERIAL KILLERS! Profilers, etc....

I hope the family of Laura lee, gets justice, and some sort of peace... :( :( and for families across the nation. :'(

It is unnerving to think about. It seems they feel emboldened these days. Like they can get away with it.

Hello everyone. My name is Kathleen and Laura Lee was best friend. This has been a very long and disappointing ordeal for Laura's family and friends, and we still do not have closure. The entire process has dragged along so slowly, from the moment she went missing and we couldn't convince law officials that something was wrong. If you read the timeline, you will see exactly how long things took, from the disappearance, to the discovery of remains, to the identification of the remains. Then we had to wait almost  a year later to have the remains returned to her family for burial.
Laura was a wonderful person who just made some bad choices in life, but shouldn't have had to pay a price like this.
We love you and miss you dearly my friend.
Someone out there knows something and we continue to hope and pray that they will come forward.

I am sorry about your friend, this must have been heartbreaking.

It must have been a very frustrating process, it is really too bad things move so slow. It makes me mad resources for missing people and murders are so low.

Do you know by chance if there is a POI? It would seem whomever did this knew her and probably was hoping no one would find her ever.

Thanks for sharing

I don't believe there is one particular POI. Laura's lifestyle had her knowing many people, so there were a handful of POI's initially, but nothing ever panned out. Or so that is what we were told.
We do suspect that it was someone that she knew, probably some of us even know, her family and friends I mean.
So many rumors have circulated since then, so you really don't know what to pay attention to anymore. Of course you listen and ask about everything you hear, and then you become more frustrated.

It still makes you wonder though if it is just rumours there, because a reward of this kind sometimes will help solve the crime. I think that ATV should be doing an hour special on the persons that are missing and murdered in Halifax and the rewards and such that are offered. As time goes by people just go about their everyday activity and forget about these cases, because there are new ones in the news. I believe more media coverage would help for some new tips.  ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

It does seem over time, someone who did hear or knows something may come forward. This is solvalble I think. There are people who have a concious and I hope they will let the police know what they know so the police can solve this.

I am from Nova Scotia and I know a half a dozen of the people who are unsolved and they were either drug addicts, or dealers. We need to get serious about the major drug problem in this country. I guarantee 90% are drug related. We need HARSH sentences for drug dealers and addicts, if it means saving there lives. Our country is in dire straights right now and our government needs to man up and take care of it. Not to mention all the deaths from overdoses. We don't hear about them because they are self inflicted and "solved" but are they really? I think not!

Every person is a human being and it should be noted that they need justice as well as the next one. If they feel they know who did the crime, arrest them and get it off the files. We all know here in N.S. there is a huge amount of drugs. Things are being done slowly and here in C.B. there has been quite a few drug busts and in fact there was just one yesterday. So every little bit helps, I think they are getting to it and it is getting a little bit dry at times for drugs here. They are doing better then they were at getting to the bottom of it.  ??? ??? ??? 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

just consulted a map and Middle Street in Dartmouth is just down the road from the Tim Horton's where Carla Stickland was allegedly dropped off.  It is a small small world.  Not much information on poor Laura, and no matter what her lifestyle she deserves justice.  Also the highway to the airport, where her body was found,  is not far from Laura's home and the Tim Horton's.
