Sicko declared dangerous

VERNON, B.C. -- A sex offender in Vernon, B.C., is facing a long time behind bars after being declared a dangerous offender.

Raymond Mark Simpson, 41, has three convictions for violent sex crimes over the last 14 years.

The most recent was in 2005 when he tied up, sexually assaulted and robbed two female workers at a Burger King restaurant in Vernon.

B.C. Supreme Court Justice Geoffrey Barrow cited Simpson's violent history in declaring him a dangerous offender.

Barrow says the evidence clearly shows there's no possibility of controlling Simpson's future behaviour, saying he has deeply entrenched sexual deviance and well-established substance abuse.

Dangerous offender status means Simpson will get an indeterminate prison term and the onus will be on him to show he's not a danger to the community when he seeks his release.
