Sex assault victims as young as 6, police say.

OSHAWA -- More than 280 charges have now been laid against a Whitby man already being held in custody on allegations of sexually assaulting children.

And Durham police continue to appeal for information as they investigate the past of 39-year-old Michael Ross Stratton, who was first arrested in June on charges of sexual assault, sexual exploitation and making child pornography.

On Tuesday officers with Durham's child sexual assault unit drove to the Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay and brought Mr. Stratton back to an Oshawa courtroom to face dozens of additional charges, the result of an investigation launched after his arrest. The charges include 89 counts of sexual assault and 85 counts of making child porn, as well as 82 counts of forcible confinement.

The new charges came about after a high-profile appeal for information in the case.

Police first began investigating on June 27 when a Durham officer responded to a report of a young woman displaying suicidal tendencies. Information provided led police to execute a search warrant at Mr. Stratton's Rosedale Drive home; they seized computer and video equipment and he was charged June 28 with 28 counts, including sexual assault and making child porn.

At a press conference in August police revealed they'd found images of children being sexually abused, some of whom were identified. Investigators made an appeal for victims to come forward.

"We've had two victims come forward as a result of the media release," Detective Randy Norton said Tuesday.

"Two of the victims were six-years-old at the time of the assaults."

It is believed that the majority of the alleged assaults took place at the Rosedale Drive residence, Det. Norton said.

"(Mr. Stratton) has lived there since back in the 80s," Det. Norton said. "A lot of kids frequented his house over the years."

Det. Norton said four investigators perused hours of video and other evidence. They have identified 10 victims and continue to attempt to identify another, a girl aged about five.

"It was hundreds of hours of very disturbing material," Det. Norton said.

"It was very disturbing for all the officers involved."

Other charges laid Tuesday included sexual exploitation, sexual assault with a weapon, robbery, choking, assault with a weapon, threatening death and invitation to sexual touching.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Norton at 905-579-1520, extension 5363, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

                     Sickening, and Horrific

This is just so sick!!!! >:( >:( >:( So now when the child, grows up, s/he will have that to remember.Doesn't do good to your self esteem, always makes you feel less than.

Reading, writing, talking is the best so called cure. In studying about abuse, brings you straight back to that dark abyss, but gradually a ray of sunshine pops thru", and the understanding is all clear. The adult had the upper hand, you were a child, they were fucked in the head, and they had no boundaries.

Skinners, baby rapers, should be locked up forever. And that goes to the Catholic Church, too, with all the peds they charged.Residential school survivors, need help, to cope better in todays society, what a way to view authority.!!!!!!!
