I just don't get this! Plus she keeps popping out more kids! I guess i could understand maybe if she was 12 or 13...but by 25 its just not OK!!! These people are just sick. And what is wrong with our justice system, allowing them to walk?

I have been trying to figure out this case but publication bans and stuff make it very hard. In june of 2007 Tabitha Lyn Etches was arrested and charged with infanticide and failure to seek assistance during childbirth. She had "allegedly" given birth to a full-term baby boy and left him in a plastic bag in the forest to die. He was found a few months later by 2 teens.

I cannot find any information on the case, I can't figure out why she is walking around free, and just obtained custody of 3 of her kids who were in foster care (including a baby!) I can't understand why her parents did not claim this child -dna proves he was hers-and provide him with a proper burial....

Does anyone know anything?

Yes, Sleuth, she had told her Mom that she feared for her life.

Today her sister said the man charged with her murder was a "softy". He was a married man and Laurie tried to break away from him as she didnt want to feel responsible for detroying a marriage. He did not take well to this.

I am so glad that investigators figured this all out and have made an arrest.

Also, interesting to note there is a short video clip on the Niagara Regional Police website , and in it it says that Laurie's body was placed in the water a few km's away from where it was found by a kayaker. It had become wedged, which is just a miracle of God, because if not for that she would have gone over Niagara Falls--which was probably the killer's intent-- and who knows if it would have ever been found??

Ken Mann
6/24/2009

Police now say that they believe the body of a murdered Hamilton woman was disposed of in the Niagara River on February 26th.

That's the same day that Laurie Funke went missing, after being in the area of Garrison Road in Fort Erie.

Investigators are appealing for information about anyone that the 48-year old may have been with that evening.

They also continue to search for her purse, personal identification and cellphone.

Funke's murder was deemed a homicide, after her body was pulled from the Niagara River on May 19th.

Police also now say that they believe Funke's body was placed in the river from the foot of Jarvis Street in Fort Erie.

I wonder what exactly "life" means in the Phillipines? This is just sad.

Not yet, they are awaiting forensic results to see if it is Laurie from Hamilton.

It's about a 1 hr 15 min drive between the city of Hamilton to Fort Erie. Fort Erie is out towards Niagara Falls/Buffalo. I have not heard anything else about the found body yet... but, yes, it will be sad news for someone no matter WHOSE body this is. But at least it will give closure as far as wondering whether a loved one is dead or alive. I will definately post as soon as I hear anything further.

Tonight I heard on CHCH news Hamilton, that it is believed that this unidentified female is likely Laurie but they need forensic confirmation which they said could take 10 days. I thought it might be her, but...to hear someone else say it days later makes it so real to me. Too close to home. Who would do this to her? I cant understand. For a time she was my best friend, then we had a falling out which I felt I could never fix so I didnt even try. I wish I had...

Oh, this one is horrible! I wish they would re-open it. That person is beyond sick, to do that to a little girl and leave her to die that way.

I'm glad your event was more successful this time. Did you get to pick Mauve's brain? I thought maybe she might have picked up something while at the site...Would be nice to get some solid answers. If not, at least you have a new friend.
