Three days after saying they were “grasping at straws” in the search for a missing 57-year-old grandmother, Winnipeg police have released images of three more people with whom they wish to speak.
Police are hoping that the potential witnesses will come forward, or that someone will be able to identify them.
Thelma Krull, an administrative assistant, disappeared while out for a walk on the morning of Saturday, July 11.

Her husband, Robert Krull, said they had arranged to meet at a Canadian Tire store at 10 a.m., but his wife did not show up. Krull was supposed to pick up a cake for her grandson’s birthday party later that day.
A surveillance camera captured Krull walking briskly down a residential street at around 7:45 a.m.

She hasn’t been seen since, but her eyeglasses were found near the Valley Gardens Community Club.
Const. Jason Michalyshen said Monday that the three people seen in the images were all in the area of Kildonan East High School and the Valley Gardens Community Club around 8 a.m. on July 11.
“There’s always that potential that they hold some very pertinent information that can move this investigation forward,” Michalyshen said as he appealed for the people in the footage to contact police.
The new images are in addition to footage of two people on bicycles that police released on Friday.

Const. Eric Hoffley said at the time that investigators were “grasping at straws.”
Police continue to urge anyone with video surveillance systems to check their footage for signs of Krull.
In the early days of the search, police had asked people to check outbuildings, green spaces and vehicles on their properties in case Krull had suffered a medical problem.
Krull, is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-4, 170 pounds with short, dyed blonde hair with a purple streak. She was last seen wearing black capri-style pants, a reddish-orange shirt, hiking boots and glasses.
The disappearance has caused fear within the community. Neighbour Roland Gibson said last week that he had changed his routine. "I don't go out walking on my own now,” he said.

Police earlier released a photo of two cyclists in the area that morning who were captured on surveillance video. They released photos of three pedestrians at a Monday morning media briefing. They ask that the three, who were recorded near Valley Gardens at about 8 a.m. July 11, contact police. Anyone else in the area that morning is also asked to call police at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.

Police believe Krull was in the area around Valley Garden Community Centre and Kildonan East Collegiate around 8 a.m. that day.

Police also released an image of two cyclists who they believe were in that general area around the same time. Police said they are not suspects, but are nevertheless people investigators would like to speak to.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Michalyshyn would not comment on if Krull's bank accounts have been accessed or if her home has been searched by investigators.

"Everything that you have suggested is part of the investigation," he told reporters. "I'm not going to divulge the outcome."

Krull's husband of 29 years, Robert, however, told CBC News her bank cards are all at home and the accounts have not been used.

Michalyshyn was also reluctant to talk about items recovered by investigators.

"I'm not going to get into specifics of those," he said. "I'm just going to say items have been located."

He did, however, say police have no information to suggest any members of the public should be concerned.

She did apparently have a waist money belt, but who goes shopping without their bank cards/credit cards/ID ?

Family doubles reward in case of missing Winnipeg grandmother

CTVNews.ca Staff

A Winnipeg family has doubled the reward for anybody with information on what happened to a grandmother who went missing in July.
Thelma Krull, 57, was last seen on July 11, when she left home to go on a hike. She was supposed to meet her husband later in the day, but never arrived.
On July 20, police released the images of three people they believed may have information on the case.

But so far, officers have only been able to recover Krull's glasses, which were found near a community centre on July 14.
On Friday, more than two months after Krull disappeared, her daughter announced that the family is now offering $20,000 to anybody with information.
"Please, someone must have seen or known something," Besser said on a Facebook page devoted to finding her mother. "Even if you think it's not important, phone in anything suspicious you may have seen that morning. It could seem small, but could be the link to help find her."
Friends and family pitched in to supply the extra reward money, and part of the $20,000 came from the "Whistle for Thelma" fundraiser.
The fundraiser was organized by the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 505, which represents Winnipeg Transit Drivers. The International Transit Union also donated money for the reward.
Besser said police have been regularly receiving tips about her mother, but so far, nothing has led to a break in the case.

If CCTV caught Thelma at 7:45am on her usual Walk..was she going to walk all the way to Canadian Tire?
Her husband was not concerned until she didn't show up at their arranged time, 10a.m.

If she was going shopping, one would think she would take her money/cards, unless their custom was for Him to pay for everything.
And/or she didn't want to go walking with money/cards on her.

Why would anyone want to harm her?  And yet the police are considering this a homicide, not a planned departure.
I suppose I should have said disappearance, but, departure came out....hmm

I wonder what else, any vehicles, pedestrians the CCTV caught that morning in the same spot it captured Thelma, after Thelma passed by.
Hopefully the police really looked over the surveillance to match vehicles, and talk to everyone seen on video.

Thelma Krull searcher says 'we really need answers'

Vigil planned for missing grandmother on July 11 to mark 1 year since she went missing

Friends of missing woman Thelma Krull say they still hope they will get the closure they need as the one year anniversary of her disappearance approaches.

The 57-year-old grandmother vanished after she went out for a walk on the morning of July 11, 2015.

She was last seen in the Harbour View area and her glasses were found a few days later on the ground at Kimberly Hill in the Valley Gardens area.

Her case is still considered an active police investigation but so far there are no leads. Winnipeg police said they will speak more about the case on the anniversary, July 11.

Krull's friend Connie Muscat has planned a vigil for that night at Kimberly Hill, and she wants people to show up to support Krull's family.

Connie Muscat

"I can't even really describe the mixture of sadness and that unknown feeling of how could this still be happening one year later?"

"I know someone out there knows what happened to her and … and we want them to understand that a year of suffering is too much. We really need answers," Muscat said.

"People can give tips that are completely anonymous, and I'm not sure people understand that."

Muscat said hearing the number of people being reported missing and stories about bodies being found in the Red River have made the year even more difficult.

Last month, partial human remains were found in the Red River in Selkirk. A boater discovered a leg still attached to a boot that was similar to what Krull was wearing the day she went missing.

An RCMP spokesperson said investigators have not yet identified the remains or gender, but it does not belong to Thelma Krull.

Muscat said these incidents are always frustrating and emotionally draining.

"Well come on, who is it then?" she said.

"Everything that's happened in the past year has always had some sort of ending — a person has been found, someone came home. Whatever the case, it's always ended, there's been closure, and in this case, there hasn't."

Difficult week for Krull's family

Krull's family has asked the media for privacy at this time.

A vigil is planned for Thelma Krull on July 11
A poster asking people to attend a vigil for Thelma Krull on July 11 has been circulating on social media this week. (Facebook)

Muscat said this has been a difficult week for Krull's relatives and she's been asked to speak on their behalf.

"This time of year will always be harder now. Some of the weather that's been coming up, with the heat and stuff, is, you know, a reminder of those days that we were out searching.… It's really taken a toll on everybody."

Muscat said she has devoted a lot of personal time to organizing community searches over the past year, and even though it's taken an emotional toll on her, she has no plans to give up on her friend.

"I know if I was out there missing, she would be filling my shoes right now," Muscat said.

Muscat is inviting the public to attend the vigil at 8:30 p.m. on July 11 on Kimberly Hill behind Kildonan East Collegiate.

She asks people to wear purple that day. Lanterns will also be released.

"Her favourite colour was pink, actually, but with the purple streak in her hair, she obviously liked purple," Muscat said with a smile.

"When I see that colour, it makes me remember her and be happy,"

How odd that investigators are certain that this is not Thelma, when they have yet to identify the remains.

Who can verify that they saw her leave her home?
Was she actually caught on camera?  If so - where does one see it?
And why did homicide get involved so quickly?

also - "She was last seen in the Harbour View area and her glasses were found a few days later on the ground at Kimberly Hill in the Valley Gardens area. "

Who saw her? Are they sure it was her?

At one point Police claim that there is no reason for the public to be alarmed.

Here is an update - (This reminds me of the Lorraine Roach case)

http://www.metronews.ca/news/winnipeg/2016/07/11/winnipeg-police-provide-update-on-thelma-krull-disapperance.html

Police laid out two distinctly different scenarios Monday for what they believe happened to Thelma Krull, one year to the day since the Winnipeg grandmother seemingly vanished without a trace.

Homicide detective and lead investigator on the file police are still calling a missing persons case, Sgt. Wes Rommel, told reporters investigators think Krull either suffered a medical incident which led somehow to her disappearance, or the 57-year-old was abducted.

This is the first time police have said publicly foul play may be involved in the case.

“What we know based on this investigation is that she experienced distress... we believe there’s two primary means or causes of that distress: one potentially is a medical condition that she suffered that day, second is possibly an encounter with an unknown person who removes her,” he said, noting if Krull was abducted, police believe she would have been chosen at random.

“Those two scenarios are the most consistent with the evidence we’ve gathered to date.”

Krull was last seen alive July 11, 2015, when she left her home on Filbert Crescent in Harbourview South for a walk around 7:20 a.m. Police believe whatever caused her to disappear—either a medical incident or abduction—happened forty minutes later as she walked through nearby Civic Park.
That’s where investigators had previously told media they found her glasses and on Monday Rommel confirmed for the first time police also recovered her cell phone in the area at the same time.
He said evidence has been gathered from the cell phone, and while he wouldn’t elaborate on what clues it may have provided, he called it an “extremely valuable source of information”.
He also said Krull’s glasses appear to have gone through some sort of “distress”.

“The fact that her glasses remained... This isn’t something that’s normal,” said Rommel. “You wouldn’t walk around and your glasses fall off and just keep going.”
Police have received over 240 tips from the public over the last year and asked for further help Monday identifying an older woman in a purple tank top seen in surveillance camera photos walking near where Krull disappeared.
They’re also hoping to hear from a man and woman described only as Caucasian and in their 30s who were also seen talking near the yellow gate at the park entrance at Kimberley Avenue   at the time who police believe may be able to help with the investigation.

“We still believe that someone out there has a critical piece of information that is needed to advance this investigation,” said Rommel.
“If you have a suspicion or a gut feeling about someone who lives in, works in, or is somehow associated to this area we want to hear about that.”
Anyone with information is asked call investigators at 204-986-6508 or Winnipeg Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS.
'There’s been no closure for our family'
After thanking everyone who’s helped in the search for Thelma Krull, Robert Krull had one simple message a year to the day after his wife left for a morning walk and never came home.
“The only thing I want to say is please, someone help us,” said Krull quietly in front of the cameras and reporters gathered in the Winnipeg police press room Monday for an update on the search for the 57-year-old grandmother.
“Help bring Thelma home.”
Krull’s daughter Lisa Besser said the hardest thing about the last year has been not knowing whether their mother, grandmother, and wife will ever be at another birthday party, Christmas, or family event.
“A year ago our lives were completely turned around and changed,” she said. “A whole year has passed and we still have no idea what happened or why.
“It’s extremely hard not knowing—not knowing if she’s coming home again or never again.”
The family is echoing calls from police for anyone with information about what happened to Krull to call investigators.
“People don’t just disappear,” said Besser. “I think it’s impossible that there’s absolutely nobody out there who can tell us what happened.
“We just want answers and whoever you are just please let us know.”

Her husband and family say that they are not surprsed that she was abducted. Also, that people should be more aware of their surroundings.

I scratch my head over this one.
What type of  stranger would want to abduct a 57 year old woman?
She was not carrying anything of value.  Her cell phone was found - so it couldn't be that!
She did not carry a bank card, nor a purse.  She carried her hiking boots.
It was daylight - people were around.

Stranger abduction is not adding up imo.

There is a lot more behind this story, yet to be revealed.
I wonder if the police checked the accuracy of the date on the street camera, where she was viewed passing by it.

Nor can I see a medical emergency. If she had such, she would have been found, would have been seen eventually by others out walking and would likely have had assist to emergency care, imo. I can see glasses falling off and getting bent a little if the person falls, but a body that has fallen doesn't just disintegrate into thin air.
That is an odd comment for family to make ... not surprised ... although the video showed Thelma walking and looking at her cell phone. If she had music in her ears and changing tunes, she really was not aware of what was going on around her.

Something I always wondered about in the video, Thelma at one point seemed to have quickened her walking as she was looking down at her cellphone. I wonder if anyone else noticed that ... could be just my imagination.

One never knows who is out there lurking. Remember this case where a 54 year old woman was abducted upon leaving work to walk to her car in the parking lot? Abducted, walked out of the area by the perp, and held captive. Thankfully she was able to escape weeks later, but not before being put through quite an ordeal.

Since 2010 there has been an influx of offenders moved to Winnipeg ... some pedos and others who targeted females of varying ages.
So abduction is likely more plausible than medical emergency.

When Thelma was observed on the cctv she had her hiking boots tied by the laces, and carried over her right shoulder, like a handbag.

If she had been yanked into a vehicle, where are her boots?  i would think that they would have slipped off and fallen to the ground, after all her glasses were found in one spot, and her cell phone later found in another.

If someone yanked me into a car, my handbag would slip off my shoulder. I can't visualize her boots staying on her shoulder through an abduction.
Can you?

I am quoting from an article - she disappeared in 14 seconds in a residential neighbourhood.

Quote
Krull walked into the view of an area resident's surveillance camera at 7:23:30 on July 11, 2015, and 14 seconds later she vanishes from the screen.

It marks the last moment Krull was seen after going for a walk from her home in Harbourview South.

Other than the video, which shows Krull walking through the residential neighbourhood by herself on a sunny weekend morning, the only other sign ever found of the woman after her disappearance was her glasses during a search near the Valley Gardens Community Centre.

Quote
Homicide detective Sgt. Wes Rommel said Monday investigators believe Krull experienced some type of distress in the area known as Civic Park in the Valley Gardens area when she arrived at the location at 8 a.m..

It is our belief that this distress was as a result of either a medical situation she experienced or an encounter and ultimate abduction by an unknown individual,” said Sgt. Rommel.

“Our belief is based on evidence we’ve gathered including evidence located at Civic Park.”
That evidence includes the recovery of Krull’s glasses, as investigators previously released last summer. On Monday morning, Sgt. Rommel also revealed that police found her cellphone in Civic Park area at around the same time, but decided to withhold releasing that information until now.
Sgt. Rommel said the information wasn’t released publically for a reason.

“This investigation is unfolding with a couple of goals in mind. One is to find Thelma, wherever she may be. Another is, should this result in a criminal investigation, to build a case to make sure that it’s defensible in court, that we’re able to prosecute a person should that happen in the future, and that’s something we’re always alert to.”

Sgt. Rommel said the phone has been put through a “forensic audit.”
“I’m not going to comment on what we’re learning from that phone, but definitely it’s an extremely valuable source of information.”

As far as what the police say, imo, either they have tunnel vision, or whatever they found on her cell phone makes them say what they did ... intended for someone specific.

In Aug. of last year, police had interviewed the first batch of people, who were captured on video. They did not see anything.  Then they went to the public with further descriptions of those in the area, a woman walking a dog, and a vehicle.
So, it is obvious that there were plenty of people in the area as early as 8:00 a.m.
I don't know the outcome of the last plea.\jb

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/Police-looking-for-vehicle-possibly-connected-to-disappearance-of-Thelma-Krull-321884402.html

Police are again asking for the public’s help in finding 57-year-old Thelma Krull, missing since July 11.

She set out for a walk in the northeast part of the city and has not been seen since.

"Investigators are attempting to identify the occupants of a newer, dark coloured Dodge Caravan or Volkswagen Routan which was seen in and around the area of Civic Park (Valley Gardens) on the morning of July 11," stated a police news release.

"Further, it is believed that a woman was walking a dog in the area just prior to 8 a.m. on July 11 and investigators are looking to speak with her. She is described as: Caucasian, 5’3"-5’4" tall with an average build and dark brown hair and was noted to be wearing ear buds. She was walking a brown dog that was approximately knee high, possibly a German Shepherd."

Anyone with any information regarding the above noted vehicle, the identity of the woman or has any information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).

"Several images of persons in the area on the morning of July 11 were previously released, all of which have been identified and interviewed," the release said. "The Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank the public and media for their assistance."

This still reminds me of Lorraine Roach case in Ontario. Lorraine has still not been located.

One year later, Krull’s disappearance fresh in many minds

BY JIM BENDER, WINNIPEG SUN
FIRST POSTED: SUNDAY, JULY 10, 2016 04:21 PM CDT | UPDATED: SUNDAY, JULY 10, 2016 05:45 PM CDT

For a year now, every time human remains are found, the question is asked: Has Thelma Krull finally been found?

The answer every time has been no.

The East Kildonan woman’s mysterious disappearance and the subsequent search to find her gripped Winnipeggers for much of last summer, with many offering up their theory on what possibly happened to her. With Monday marking the one-year anniversary of Krull’s disappearance, the speculation and the wondering about what happened to her hasn’t gone away for many of the woman’s friends and family.

“Every time there’s a report of a body in the river, we go on the ‘net right away to see if it’s her,” said Peter Court, executive director of Special People In Kildonan East (S.P.I.K.E.), where Krull was employed.

“It’s been difficult. When someone dies, you have closure. You grieve and move on ... Your hope of finding her diminishes over time.”

Court finally filled Krull’s spot on his staff, but she still remains on the books as being on leave, he said.

It’s been a challenge to replace her on a permanent basis. It’s been a difficult time. She was well-liked. You can replace the job she was doing, but she’s irreplaceable.”

Krull’s family declined comment this past week. Lisa Besser, Thelma’s daughter, asked for privacy for the family “during this very hard time” in an email.

“It’s been hard for her because she does have a little boy and she needs to make ends meet,” said Connie Muscat, the family’s spokesperson. “She can’t pretend that things are normal, so she’s keeping busy. Her mom was also her best friend.”

Krull, then 57, disappeared on the same day as her grandson Cole’s 11th birthday party. He turns 12 soon.

“(Besser’s) son’s birthday can’t be remembered for this (disappearance),” Muscat said. “She’s going to be focusing on positive things and her son shall be her focus.”

The most frustrating aspect of Krull’s disappearance for many is that police have not released a single clue since her glasses were found four days after she went missing.

“We still believe somebody saw something,” Muscat said.

Friends, family and complete strangers have conducted extensive searches together for Krull. One of those is Bill McCausland, who did not know the family when he began searching.

“I went from day one because I thought it was a different way to disappear,” he said. “She wouldn’t have gone missing on her own accord because her grandson had a birthday party that day and my understanding is that she is a family-oriented person, and there weren’t any bad things happening in the family.

“We’ve been in contact with her husband (Robert Krull) to help him out because he’s been going through a real hard time right now, and Monday will be a hard time for the whole family.”

Krull’s disappearance ‘horribly scary’

Winnipeg police have kept in touch with the Krull family for the past year.

“But they say they have nothing whatsoever to share,” said Connie Muscat, the family spokesperson. “They just told us to keep doing exactly what we’re doing.”

What family and friends have been consistently doing is conducting searches, putting up posters, regularly updating a Facebook page detailing the search for Krull, and selling Thelma Krull whistles as a means to keep promoting the fact she’s still missing.

The police homicide unit has been working the case for most of the past year and it remains an active investigation.

Given the time that’s passed, it’s unlikely Krull will be found alive, said former police homicide detective James Jewell.

“I suspect, as I’m sure you do, that it’s rare to have a happy ending to a story like this,” Jewell told the Sun, in an email. “Nonetheless, extraordinary things can and have happened.”

About $6,000 has been raised from the sale of the whistles, which were the idea of Amalgamated Transit Union officials, of which Thelma’s husband Robert is a member. That money was destined to be part of a $20,000 reward for finding Krull. But, once the year is up, it will go to Child Find Manitoba in Krull’s name.

“It’s been horribly scary and it’s changed a lot of people’s lives,” Muscat said. “People say they don’t go walking alone anymore and don’t run with ear buds listening to music because of what happened to Thelma.”

Both Bill McCausland and his wife, Robin, have searched and will continue to search for Krull.

“I told the family we’d find her one way or another to give the family some kind of closure,” said McCausland, who believes Krull was abducted. “But fewer people are searching all the time, so people have lost hope and I think that’s partly because police can’t release any information.”

Anyone who has any information on Krull’s disappearance is asked to call police at 204-986-6250.

Retracing Thelma's Steps

July 11, 2015: Thelma Krull leaves her Filbert Crescent home around 7:20 a.m. to go for about a two-hour hike. She did this quite often, taking different routes. Robert Krull, her husband, said he heard their dog cry when she left.

Thelma had planned to meet her husband at Canadian Tire on Regent Avenue and was then going to pick up a birthday cake for her grandson. She was going to call her husband when she got there but he never got that call.

Family reported her missing at 10:30 a.m.

July 14: Family members told media that police had located a phone ping in the area of the Valley Gardens Community Centre.

July 15: Police released a video of Krull walking on the street just after leaving her home. It was taken by a neighbour’s surveillance camera at 7:23 a.m. There was no video of her coming back.

July 15: Police confirmed they had found Krull’s eyeglasses at the Valley Gardens Community Centre.

July 16: Homicide unit takes over the investigation.

July 20: Winnipeg Transit workers offer $5,000 reward for Krull’s return (her husband is a bus driver). Starts selling Thelma’s Whistles to cover the cost. With others adding to it, the reward totals $20,000.

March 1, 2016: Shawn Cote of Ashern releases video about Krull to remind people that she is still missing.

March 19: A new poster on Krull is released and searches for her by volunteers are renewed. “I haven’t given up hope. We haven’t given up hope,” a tired-looking Robert Krull told media that day.

July 11: One-year anniversary of Krull’s disappearance. A ceremony is scheduled for the evening at Krull’s home and at nearby Kimberly Hill.

This articles claims they used tracking dogs, and on page 1, reply # 4, they also did a water search.

Note: nothing was said about the tracking dogs leading them to her, however, I wonder if they {the dogs) indicated that she possibly entered a vehicle.

That could be why they are saying "abduction" now. The dogs would come to a dead end. I wonder if they were able to get tire impressions ... likely not.

On a facebook page, someone had the image of Thelma (taken from the cctv camera) enlarged.
Although it is blurry, it looks like Thelma has something over her shoulder - looks like a large handbag. Unless it is a shadow, and is a trick to the eye, but I don't think so.

There was no mention of her carrying anything by police in their description.
Is that something that they are holding back?

They have her phone and eyeglasses - where is the object that she had slung on her shoulder? (I had originally thought they were her hiking boots), but she was definately carrying something on her shoulder - as per the captured photo from the cctv.

If she was abducted, it would have been very swift and carried out by someone who had good strength, as Thelma was not a tiny woman.

To my mind, I think the victim and the perp knew each other. He knew where to find her and where she would be at that precise time.  He simply drove up and did it.  That is why no one saw anything nor heard anything (screams)  as she knew him. It was that fast.

Thelma left the house at 7:20 a.m - to take a hike around her usual park.
She was reported missing at 10:30 a.m.

Remarkably fast.... Gone 3 hours, not a full day, nor two days, just 3 hours.

Would be quite the thing, if other families did the same thing?  Or, is there a common sense reason for families to hold off - hoping that their loved one will have a change of heart and return home?

Perhaps Thelma was always on time - never late for anything and never for her grandsons birthday party - that raised early alarm bells?

Media said "reported missing", I assume the police were called.
If so, did the police cruise around the area to see if they could spot her?

Did her family also check her usual walking routes to look for her, before calling the police?
It is a bit frightening to think that this grandmother could just vanish into thin air.

No citizen reported seeing  her at the park,  therefore I wondered; perhaps she did not go to that particular area on that fateful morning, deciding to take another route.

But on the other hand, her glasses and cell phone were located 4 days later in her usual park.

If the glasses and cell phone had been there for four long days, one would think it would have been found on day one, the day that she disappeared. Cell phones can be spotted on the ground. I cannot picture the cell phone lying there for four days.  I mean, it must have been visible, in order to be discovered in the first place!!

What happened to Thelma??
Such a mystery!!

I don't remember this case at all and possibly just thought this was solved. I also notice there is not a lot of activity on here of people posting from western Canada. This is very unusual that someone could just disappear just like that. If she was taken, it is kind of mind boggling, because she is not a tiny person, if someone was abducting her, it would have to be more then one person. If she had ear phones listening to music, she would be certainly not aware of things around her. Would she have been hit by a vehicle maybe, that way her glasses would come off. It kind of sounds like a very strange case to me. The cell phone being found. I know that is a way people are traced from the pings off their phone. I also think it is a strange remark by family members, that she may have been abducted. Of course, early in the morning sometimes there are homeless people around and they are looking for an easy mark, money is on their minds for drugs or whatever and they will stop at nothing to get this. Just because people look innocent driving bicycles, doesn't mean they are. This should be brought to the attention of the public once again, doing a story on W5 or the Fifth Estate and see if they get any more clues to what happened to Thelma. Obviously, she did not just disappear on her own, someone had a hand in it. :o :o :o :o :o

Missing woman Thelma Krull possibly spotted with man, police say
Grandmother was 57 when she went missing in Winnipeg in July 2015
CBC News Posted: Oct 12, 2016 8:52 AM CT Last Updated: Oct 12, 2016 5:43 PM CT

It's alleged that a woman with a similar description was spotted on July 11, 2015 — the day Krull left her home in the Valley Gardens area to go for a walk — near Kimberly Avenue east of Gateway Road, "in the company of a heavy-set man" who was about five feet, eight inches tall, weighing 270 pounds, with a "bowl-style haircut," police said Wednesday.

"This information was brought to our attention as a result of the most recent … news release that we did in July 2016, but the sighting itself goes back to the original disappearance date," Const. Jason Michalyshen told reporters.

Possible witness in Thelma Krull investigation comes up empty
It's not known whether the woman and man were walking or driving in the area, which was not far from the location where Krull was last seen.

Investigators hope releasing details of the possible sighting will prompt people to come forward with more tips, Michalyshen said.

"We haven't confirmed that this is Thelma. We've received this information and now we're at a point where we need more information," he said.

"Is this information relevant to move this investigation forward? Is this information that we need to act further on? Is this information that we need to dismiss and move on to something else?"

I worry....what if she was kidnapped and is being held captive?
It has happened before, I think of the victim down east that managed to escape.

Thelma worked at a Group Home.  I have often wondered if there was a conflict with a member of a family regarding their relative's care.

Eg.  Was Thelma involved in having a client removed from the Group Home due to his/her behaviour?

Family can get very upset when this happens.  Especially for those clients that are difficult to place, and the family is forced to take them home to contend with them.

Any confrontation with a family member over such a scenario, would certainly cause Thelma distress.

Just a thought.  And I hope police will look into that possibility.

So sad for the family but at least they know now. Media must have been pressing for info on possible "gang" related activity to which police said they are not elaborating and are looking at many avenues.
The sketch shows a tough person indeed.   I believe they have more than they are letting on and will also have more interviews now.
This crime looks to be solvable, imo.

I really believe that she knew him. Since she appeared to be distressed, according to the witness, why did she not yell out? They were seen walking together crossing the street. She probably knew him, and did not want to make matters worse by doing so.  She did not realize that he would murder her.  Perhaps thought she could handle him.

The family obviously did not recognize the person via the sketch.  Am beginning to wonder if he had a relative who lived in the group home. I hope police are following up with group home where Thelma worked.

Is there a reserve close by where the body was found?

Just a theory of course.

She did work at a group home at one point so the perp could be an ex-client. Could be a low functioning person like the case we had in Camrose a few years back.
