Saskatoon police are investigating after a person found human remains in Saskatoon.

Just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, police were called to an area by the riverbank of the South Saskatchewan River in the 500 block of Adilman Drive.

The area is in Silverwood Heights on the west side of the river.

"It was a passerby that noticed the remains and phoned police to report it," said Kelsie Fraser, spokesperson for the Saskatoon Police Service.

Fraser said she didn't know if the remains had been there for awhile or not.

"This isn't an investigation that we rush. I know that weather plays a factor this time of year being shorter daylight hours but again it isn't something we'll rush," she said, adding people living in the area can expect flood lights while police investigate into the night.

Police donít know the cause of death nor have they identified the body. Forensic and major crimes investigators are at the scene.

There are a lot of families who will be tied up in knots hoping to have closure finally and only one family will have the closure. How sad at this time of year especially; it's bad enough any time.

Sadly, all too true!  Anytime is a bad time, as you say.  But Holiday Season will be forever saddened.
Families have their own sad Anniversary, but no relief with each year of people singing Christmas Carols, and Christmas trees etc.

That area is way north of the train bridge.  It's between the water treatment plant and the Silverwood golf course.

I truly hope that it is someone whose family has been waiting and wondering.

Subject: Update - Report Of Human Remains - 500 Block Of Adilman Drive (rel#875,877)

An autopsy on the remains of a male found near the river earlier this week was performed earlier today. The Office of the Chief Coroner has, based on the scene, and pending toxicology and microscopic examinations, determined the cause of death was most likely hypothermia. There is no evidence to date to suggest foul play was involved in the death.

The deceased male has been positively identified by the Saskatoon Police Service as a 36 year old Saskatoon man. His family has been notified and has requested that his name not be released publicly.

The Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Unit has also determined that the 36 year old man was not a subject of a missing person investigation.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., December 12, 2012, Police were called to an area near the riverbank and Adilman Drive after a passerby reported finding human remains.

So no closure for any of the families above and tragedy for another. Thoughts with this family.
