Sorry to hear that you are looking for Dave who is having a hard time of life.  I have already noticed the appeals for his whereabouts on my facebook page, and I took the liberty to pass it on to family living over in that direction.
Is there any way he would/could go over to Manitoulin Island?  Not sure why I am asking you this, except I wonder.  Which way would you think he would want to go?

Missing man's family desperate for answers
By Denis Langlois
Updated 1 day ago

It’s been three weeks since Dave Billings went missing and the Owen Sound man’s family says they are getting more and more desperate for answers.

“Not knowing is just very, very hard on us all,” said Annette Slade, Billings’ sister.

“We don’t know what’s happened to him, where he is. We just want him home. We just want to know he’s OK.”

Billings, 42, was last seen by family and friends in Owen Sound on the morning of Jan. 6.

He does not have a passport with him, Slade said. There has been no activity on his bank or credit cards. He has no cellphone.

Police have been contacted, but have so far come up empty handed.

Missing person posters have been put up around the area, media outlets have been notified and family and friends have been posting regularly about Billings on Facebook.

The family is offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads them to him.

Slade said she is asking that everyone keep an eye out for Billings or his 2007 burnt orange Toyota Yaris.

“People could check outside buildings that they don’t use a lot — barns, sheds, whatever. They can even do that and double check that there isn’t a car hidden somewhere,” she said.

“Around waterways, where maybe there’s cottages and stuff that people don’t use in the wintertime, if people could just maybe keep an eye there.

“You get so tired thinking where he could be. Without a clue, I don’t know what to think anymore. We’re just desperate for answers, honestly.”

Billings is described as five-foot-eight inches tall and 170 pounds with brown hair, a goatee and hazel eyes. His car has Ontario licence plate BAWW 179.

The family is concerned Billings is not on his medication and that he could be depressed.

Anyone who has seen Billings or his car is asked to call Owen Sound police at 519-376-1234.

Body found in car in harbour
By Denis Langlois

An OPP underwater search team recovered a body, which police believe to be missing city resident David Billings, from the Owen Sound Harbour Wednesday evening.

The remains were found inside a burnt orange Toyota Yaris, which belonged to the 42-year-old man.

Owen Sound police say the body has been taken to London for an autopsy and confirmation of identity. Foul play is not suspected.

Four members of the OPP’s underwater search and recovery unit from Gravenhurst used a small boat and side-scan sonar system to search the Owen Sound Harbour for Billings’ body.

He had been missing for 82 days.

Billings’ fiancee Tracy Flood arrived shortly after the boat entered the water at about noon at the city’s west side boat launch.

She and other family members watched for hours as the boat, pulling the sonar, idled back and forth along both sides of the harbour wall.

In an interview at about 5 p.m., Flood said she was holding up OK.

“I just know that we all need some closure and he needs to be found,” she said, through tears.

Flood said Billings has two stepchildren who were “very worried” and miss him.

“My one son can’t even say (Dave’s) name without crying and the other one is very angry and upset,” she said.

Just after supper hour, the OPP recovery unit had roped off an area of the harbour. A tow truck arrived an hour after that and began to pull a burnt orange, four-door hatchback car out of the water.

The Toyota Yaris, which Billings was last seen driving, had a smashed windshield and large dents in the roof.

People watched from the east side of the harbour as the car was pulled up by its front axle in front of the Owen Sound grain elevators.

Reached by telephone at about 8:30 p.m., one of Billings’ relatives said the family was too upset to talk.

The OPP unit was called in by the Owen Sound Police Service.

Det-Sgt. Mark Kielb, a city police officer, said the search was not the result of a specific tip, but simply part of the department’s ongoing effort to locate Billings.

The OPP’s underwater unit included experienced OPP diver Const. Glenn Newell, who was part of the team that recovered the bodies of the Shafia family of Montreal at the Kingston locks in 2009.

Billings was last seen early in the morning on Jan. 6 at Tim Hortons on the Sunset Strip.

The family was baffled as to what could have happened to him.

He was depressed, they said early on. His mother died in 2007 and his father died on Nov. 3.

“Dealing with Christmas as well has brought a lot of stress to our family. David is taking my father’s death very hard and he is also depressed, which is why the urgency to spread the word and have him returned home safely,” says a Facebook page dedicated to Billings, which was updated by his family, including his only sister Annette Slade.

The family posted daily pleas for Billings to return home online. They put up missing posters, contacted multiple media outlets and put together $2,000 for a reward.
