Human remains found in Milton


Police discovered human remains in Milton on Monday afternoon.

Halton Regional Police were responding to a call to investigate a “suspicious article” at 6th Line Nassagaweya and 20 Sideroad at about 2 p.m. when they made the discovery.

The remains will eventually be taken to Hamilton General Hospital for a post-mortem examination, police said.

Forensic identification and homicide officers were called in to take charge of the investigation.

20 Sideroad is closed between 6th Line Nassagaweya and the Nassagaweya/Esquesing Town Line and police expect it will remain closed throughout Tuesday.

Human remains identified in Milton

Police say human remains found Monday in Milton have been identified and the case is being treated as a homicide.

The remains of the adult male were discovered after police responded to a call to investigate a “suspicious article” at 6th Line Nassagaweya and 20 Sideroad at about 2 p.m. on Monday.

An autopsy was performed at Hamilton General Hospital.

The man has been identified but police are withholding his name until family members have been notified.

20 Sideroad is closed between 6th Line Nassagaweya and the Nassagaweya/Esquesing Town Line and police expect it will remain closed throughout Tuesday.

Halton police confirmed Tuesday that human remains found in Milton are those of an adult male.

Police have identified the victim as Garfield Steele, 32, from Toronto.

He had been reported missing to Toronto police on November 10. He was last seen in Toronto on November 3.

The remains were found Monday afternoon near 6th Line and 20 Sideroad.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

No problem, I just make those remarks so that the two threads can be combined in the future. That happens often when human remains are found but not yet identified. In fact, a very positive thing when a few unsolved and unidentified can be matched.
