How can a woman be in such poor health at age 55? almost 6 feet tall and weighs 90-100 lbs? With all due respect, no wonder she needed canes to walk.  No teeth.  No dentures?  How neglelctful.  Mind you perhaps they were so poor that she couldn't afford dentures. What do they know about her husband? Did she have children? Who saw her last and who reported her missing? Was she taunted at, made fun of, and harassed by kids?? I would not be surprised by that.  LE really should look into a history of taunting etc, as this may bring in a few leads. Just a few thoughts to toss out there.

Peace
JB

So, you seen this woman's picture.   I don't mean to be cruel, but her glasses are so old and out-dated and she seems so old.  It says this couple lived a reclusive lifestyle.....and she looks like they did.  I think some of these people tend to have mental issues....mentally ill.
Wonder where that picture of her came from?   Wonder what her husband had to say about her disappearance...after all it was only the 2 of them, and they were in the bush....not a whole heck of a lot around there.   I have passed by that area, many times a few years back, but never ventured off the hwy.
She is not the only person missing from that area, Robert Aho is also missing, last seen out on the hwy.

I too am thinking of mental illness.  A form thereof for both of herself and her husband.  I cannot locate any obit's on her.  There is no name of husband.  Apart from the notice put out by the police, it is as if the Sadowsky's have never existed.  So sad, really.

Peace

I was not aware of Barbara Sadowski.  I find this case interesting.  Barbara was bush-wise, due to her reclusive life-style. She would not get lost, in the short distances she would have been able to walk. (walks with two canes, and with difficulty).  Yet she disappeared. If she had had a medical issue, like a heart attack for example, or broke a leg, she would have been found.  She did not have the mobility to leave the area on her own volition. So what happened to Barbara?

I would think regardless if the woman was poor, or reclusive, or had mental issues , she is still a missing human being.  I guess judgeless not we be judged.  I have always hoped she would be found safe but it is not looking that way for sure with her so feeble and missing so long.  May she rest in peace.

Please don't think I was judging this woman, eyeswideopen....I feel for people that seem to be lost and are so unimportant to the news.

I am more judging the effort put into solving this case.

How much was done to find her, to question those that knew her?  I agree with Peter, she must not have been able to walk far with two canes, so where is she six years later?  More answers should have come.

Jobo no offense was taken lol I agree , I dont think enough effort was put into finding this woman, no way she walked far enough to get lost with two canes. I too thingk LE dropped the ball on this one as well as the media

This is sad....I agree that she couldnt have travelled that far really, having 2 canes and walking very slow. You'd think someone would have saw her if she made it to the hwy. There seems to be a lot of pervs out there who prey on the eldery in old age homes. I hope she didnt get picked up by someone :(

it's hard to get a bead on exactly where this is.  i was under the impression it was near to Marten River, north of North Bay, where Robert Aho went missing.  When I googled MArten Lake it shows an area northwest of Thunder Bay.  Marten River area is rural, but close to a major highway.  Marten Lake appears to be the middle of no-where....

Justsayin.....you had me freaking for a minute or two, thinking I was talking about the wrong Marten.  But, check out Reply #4....the OPP statement.  It is saying Marten Lake in the Marten River area....Temiskaming Detachment.

I have noticed in the past that sometimes 2 different lakes have the same name, here in Ontario.  Not a great idea, but it happens.

Is it possible that Barbara made her own way into the water? And that is why there is no sign of her?
Perhaps she was in constant pain - we will never know.
I am thinking of the S word. I have often privately wondered about that.

I really wish I could see the spot where Barbara was last seen.  Details are too sketchy to determine what the scene was.  The article says she was last seen walking along the beach.

I know further north, near Temiskaming, it's very sandy and there can be lots of logs in the water, in certain lakes.  Some small islands in Lady Evelyn Park do not allow "picknickers"...they don't want the islands eroded any faster than some of them are.
The land is constantly changing with the sand and the waters and the weather.
The island I stayed on, most of the trees had all their roots exposed, I suppose the land washes into the lake and is deposited elsewhere, eventually.  The lake could be quite rough and hazardous due to floating logs.  It is not hard clay soil like I have where I live.  There is many pockets in Ontario, it seems, where the soil is sandy.
I've also been hearing that some lake's water levels have gone down, but I am not sure how far north they mean.  I know they have mentioned Lake Nipissing (North Bay) and Georgian Bay on/in Lake Huron.

Barbara went missing six years ago, I wonder how much the landscape has changed around there.  I wonder if her husband stayed there, or went elsewhere after she went missing.

I wonder if the OPP recreated the husband's car accident....and if it was an accident.

Oh dear, jellybean..I was replying to a post that was on here this morning....and it's gone now.
It was news from 2008 I believe....and it said that Barbara's husband was killed in a single vehicle accident, about 3 weeks after Barbara's disappearance.  He crashed into a rock cut.

Sorry guys. Yes, there was a small mention in the article that Barbara's husband had been killed in an accident. I removed the post as the information was from 2008 in regard human remains that had been found in that area. There are two earlier posts on the thread that are from Police reports (2010) and showed that she was still missing.

Doesn't it strike anyone as a strange coincidence, that three weeks after she went missing her husband was killed in a SINGLE vehicle accident, smashing into a rock cut?  I mean, people have committed suicide in a vehicle in the past.  It's possible that he was overcome by grief or his conscience ate him alive.  I wonder if the police ever investigated the home they lived in, or the property.

I found an article re: Barbara and the death of her husband.

Hi JB,

This is the same article that was posted a few days ago. I had removed it because it goes back to two years before the Police reports above it that state Barbara was missing in 2010.

I am leaving the link only, as reference to the death of her husband.

Thanks debbiec
The title of the article does not, in the end have anything to do with Barbara.

I just found it odd that the police launched a Missing Person's after they made several unsuccessful attempts to locate Barbara to tell her that her husband was killed in a car accident.
I had just assumed that Ted reported her missing.

She is still considered to be missing.
