Ok here we go again.  There were eyewitnesses to my cousins kidnapping.  There was a older couple who seen it as well as 2 individual men.  She was walking along the highway on her way home and the van pulled over - there were 2 men in the front and one in the back that pulled her into the van.  The documentary was called Where is Shelly or Where is Shelly Anne.  It was done on on either CBC or CTV - im thinking about 15 years ago - maybe a little longer. They had a girl protraying my cousin and they reinacted the kidnapping and the time leading up to it and about the search after.  They interviewed my aunt, uncle and cousin Tim.  One of my other cousins were there and helped in the search but he wasnt there when they did the interview.  They also interviewed my cousins boyfriend at that time.  The documentary also includes information about the van that was seen, the 3 men in the van, and that there was a van painted in a field outside Hinton.I have googled trying to find information on the documentary but havent been able to find anything.  If anyone finds it I would be interested in getting a copy.  In regards to the post that my aunt got some prank phone calls - yes that is true - some people can be very cruel - I dont know the particulars of the phone call tho.

Excellent Irish Mist. I know that the CBC has an archives department but they require a fairly accurate date and charge a fee.

Thanks for that info D1 - i will see if I can find a contact there to email to see if it was them that did the documentary.  It was so long ago its hard to remember.  It was done in Alberta but I watched it in Saskatchewan so it had to be with a TV station that broadcasts across Canada and those are the 2 biggest I can think of - but im sure there is more.

Here's an article which  I read   (put out a few years ago) regarding HRD dogs brought in for this case:

That is very informative, many have wondered whether Shelly was buried near where her clothing was found.

This is an interesting quote from L.E.;
Quote
At first, authorities suspected that she had run away, but after the articles of her clothing were found, they were sure that she had fallen prey to an "opportunity killer," with no connection to Bacsu.

Yes, that does strike me as odd.

Shelly is part of the official list of 16 highway of tears victims. While the police did not admit a serial killer but said the victims were along a stretch of highway, no more than so far off the highway in either direction and other factors like hitch hiking. Shelly is so far East of the other 15 HOT official victims. This fact makes me question whether the police have a suspect, because if they do, they would probably look at him/her for the other official 15 victims. Why did RCMP include Shelly in the official list, besides the reasons above.

The name for this killer I think was originally the Transcanada Highway killer, many victims on that list, including Kelly Cook.

IrishMist,

Thank you for clarifying the point about the crank calls. I was 4 when this happened and heard about it through my father who worked with Tim.

WOW, this is the first time I have visited this site.  I was 9 years old when Shelly went missing.  I road the school bus with her and was on the bus with her the day she went missing.  My mom was friends with her parents and knew them quite well.  The original reports stated that she was last seen getting off the bus that day and was walking up to the trailer park.  Of course that was later changed when she was seen on highway 16 walking, etc.

I have read all of the posts in this topic.  When she went missing I clearly remember everyone talking about a blue full sized van picking her up.

Back in 2006 and 2007 while all of the Picktons publicity was on going I was thinking about Shelly.  I was thinking and wondering if the Picktons may have had something to do with her disappearance.  It seemed like a stretch at the time, but I thought about it enough that I tracked down an email for one of the profilers that they used in the Pickton case and I sent him an email.

I wish I still had his email after seeing all of your comments, but I asked him if the investigators had every found an "late model blue van" on the picktons property and if he thought that they would have had the means to be involved in Shelly's case.

The wierd part out of all of this is that I received a response from the guy in matter of 2 hours and it was very abrupt.  He stated that the picktons were not involved in Shellys case, which I found very wierd because he didn't even consider it he just brushed it off immediately (the fact that he brushed it off so fast supprized me).

At the time I didn't say anymore to him, but I now wonder if he knew something that allowed him to respond to me in such an abrupt way???????Hmmmmmmm

Anyhow I really hope that for the sake of the family that they are able to solve this horrible situation.  I now have three children a boy and two girls and I can not ever imagine what it would be like to loose one of them.

All the best to the family

LETS_SOLVE_BACSU, I'm glad you found this site. .... hope you'll stick around.
There are many of us on her who will agree you have to sometimes wonder how it is with the authorities.
They preach "Crime Stoppers" commercials .... looking for tips, but only concerning what they want "tips" on.  Those police departments all seem to think a person is wrong, or delusional when they clue in on serious possibilities, and get up the nerve to make that call to whatever authority about cases that they really don't want to hear about, - cases they have already been ordered to drop, etc.

It might have a lot to do with $$$$ limited to look into old cases the public aren't "screaming about"... the more spent on cold cases and/or cases "not on their agenda", the less public monies to spend on private jets and expensive parliamentary matters (getaways to take a break or do private business) in my opinion.

Lost, I wholeheartedly agree with you!

Alberta has so much money...and has the money to outfit the manpower, instead they give more to the fat cats at the top, and hire another specialist from out of the country to pay erroneous wages of tax payers dollars. Those tax payers dollars, could be spent more strategically, and there are alot of qualified people who are capable of doing jobs that may alter the future for Albertans.

That is getting off the topic here....Alberta can afford to hire more cold case detectives, and put a grinding halt to the unsolved murders of Alberta. Once one province takes ahold of doing something this productive...the other provinces will follow.

You know how in Europe there are satellite pictures that are taken to find mass graves. Why can`t that be done to find Shelly...hmmm....
