Sue;  I am very sorry for the loss of your daughter, Terrie Ann Dauphinais in April 2002.  After reading this thread, I can't help but wonder if the kids are getting counselling...they probably need it...and through the counselling, perhaps some info would come out that would put better light on their situation in Saskatoon, whether or not it was in their best interest.  I cannot understand you saying CAS won't get involved. If you call in a concern, don't they do a well being check, at least to determine whether or not to take more action?  I would try again, if I were you.  In our justice system, we do have "the right to remain silent"....but for the life of me, I cannot understand an innocent person excersising that right.  If a loved one of mine, even an ex, was murdered I would be talking like crazy in case the cops picked up on a clue they could work with.  I just read recently, that most people that are innocent, talk.......Please keep your chin up and do not give up...

As a man, I find this difficult to swallow, that another man can continue on in life with contempt to the well being of another human that is suppose to share living with him. Where is child welfare? It is the responsibility of a parent to protect and nurture their children so that they can be better then them when it is their turn to leave the nest. Even neighbors are responsible for the well being of children not known to them.  This situation is extremely cruel. I cannot understand why the police are refusing to except responsibilty of acting to safe guard and do their duty to protect those whom are unable to, such as these children, to protect themselves. To the police and child welfare - shame on you.

Hang in there Sue...if you need anything let me know! If by chance anyone (Ken included) wants to give their version of events, perhaps to clear their name, I am more than willing to meet with them and facilitate this.

Speak up Ken! Go to the vigil, tell Sue and her family you are not guilty. Show your face, don't be a coward.
Everyone in the country will believe you are guilty if you don't go.... that's a LOT of people.
You will have no where to go without people pointing fingers, calling you a murderer.
Your name will be out there Ken.

Eight years after murder, family still waiting for answers

By NADIA MOHARIB, Calgary Sun

Last Updated: April 29, 2010 4:22pm

Investigators working on an unsolved murder of a Calgary mother know the day will soon come when the children she left behind will want answers.

The body of Terrie Ann Dauphinais was found in her Citadel Peak Circle N.W. home the morning of April 29, 2002.

A killer has yet to be charged for the killing of the 24-year-old mother of three who died while her children slept upstairs.

But Det. Spencer Frizzell, knowing there are people with information, still hopes to get the break needed to solve the case.

Given the case may be “fading in peoples’ memories,” he hopes a Crime Stoppers re-enactment done this week will encourage some of those silent for so long to finally speak up.

“We believe people out there have information that could advance this and encourage them to come forward,” Frizzell said Wednesday.

“Certainly, her parents — the family as a whole — wants justice and the children deserve to know what happened and will be asking why.”

The case is one of about 75 unsolved cases Frizzell and a colleague are looking into — one dating back to 1917 where a police constable was shot to death while investigating a break-and enter.

In Dauphinais’ killing several detectives over the years have tried to contact her estranged husband, Ken, now said to be living in Saskatchewan with their children, but he has refused to help revisit the case.

Initially, police had said he was a key person of interest although they have not ruled out other suspects.

They have never revealed publicly how Dauphinais was slain and still don’t know exactly why.

“We do not believe it was random,” Frizzell said.

“Only the killer knows the motive.”

The detective does know her children — aged four, two and 18-months at the time of the slaying — will one day, if not already, want to know what happened to their mother and why her life was taken.

“We know at least one (of her children) heard her screaming,” Frizzell said.

“They are getting to the age now where they will be asking questions and they deserve answers.”

A vigil was planned for Thursday night near the home where Dauphinais was killed.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the homicide tip line at 403-206-8877, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Investigators hope film project yields clues to mystery of Calgary mom's murder

By JASON VAN RASSEL, Calgary HeraldApril 29, 2010

CALGARY - Authorities filmed a re-enactment of the unsolved killing of a young Calgary mother on the eighth anniversary of the crime today, in the hope it will jump-start the stalled investigation.

Terrie Ann Dauphinais was 24-years-old when her stepsister found her body just inside the front door of her home on Citadel Peak Circle N.W. on the morning of April 29, 2002,

The home bore no signs of forced entry, prompting investigators to believe from the beginning that Terrie knew her killer.

But eight years later, no one has come forward to accept responsibility for the crime or identify the culprit.

“I believe even when justice is served, we’ll still have that emptiness and pain in our hearts,” said Terrie’s mother, Sue Martin, who came from her home in Ontario to mark the grim anniversary.

Investigators are hoping the re-enactment filmed today will at least bring Terrie’s killer closer to justice.

“What we’re trying to do is appeal to those who have always had information (about the killing), or have received information,” said Det. Spencer Frizzell of the homicide unit.

“The family and police don’t want the case to be forgotten.”

Over the years, police also revealed that they have evidence the killer knew the home's interior and went to the basement for a specific purpose — a reason they have never disclosed.

Terrie was last seen in public at a grocery store not far from her home at 10 p.m. on April 28.

Her estranged husband, Ken Dauphinais, was the last person to see her alive.

Investigators have described Ken, who had been separated from Terrie for about three months, as a person of interest in the case.

Ken, who now lives in Saskatoon with the couple’s three children, has not spoken with homicide investigators in the years since the killing.

“We’re very much interested in any information he can offer. It’s an open invitation,” Frizzell said.

The re-enactment is scheduled to begin airing on Shaw TV (Channel 10) later today. It will also be available for viewing at www.calgarycrimestoppers.org.

Saskatoon needs to hear about Ken Dauphinais.
I'm with you Sue and all Terrie's family.
Ken Dauphinais is a person of interest in the murder of his wife and the mother of their three children!
Ken Daupinais does not want to talk to police, not in eight years.
This makes me think Ken Daupinais has committed murder against Terrie Ann Dauphinais and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this.
Saskatoon, indeed all of Saskatchewan needs to pressure Ken Dauphinais to contact police and discuss the murder of the mom of his three children, their mother.
Ken Dauphinais, soon everyone in the country will know your name and know you are a person of interest in your wife's murder. Talk to the police, to no do so leads the world to believe you are guilty. If you are guilty then 'fess up.

How right you are Des.... people need to hear/know the poi's name.  ...and beware.  Killers never stop at one.  It's too bad so many people are tolerating this.  There's no doubt, people around him heard bits and pieces that would help police connect the dots.  So when he does it again.... and no doubt he will..... it won't be for lack of trying on Terrie Ann's family's part, to expose this, and prevent another victim down the road.  I hope the day will never have to come when the family get to say "We tried to tell you all this" because he killed again.  RIP Terri ... hang in there Sue and family!  God be with you.

Hi,

I've been reading this discussion group for awhile now.  I have been friends with Ken for the last 9-10 months.  Right from the beginning, he has never kept any of this from me.  Everything that I have read on here, he has talked about.

I have spent quite a bit of time with the kids.  They are doing well, thriving and succeeding in school and have lots of friends.  They are very happy, well-rounded kids.

I just needed to say, none of us really know the reasons why Ken won't speak to anyone re: Terrie Ann's murder and I find it very frustrating that most of the people on here are so adamant that he did it.  There's always two sides to the story, and then there is the truth.

I hope that someday, especially for the kids' sake, that Terrie Ann's case can be closed.  I can't imagine the heartache that her family is going through every single day.  But I really wish that we could take some time to consider this - the kids have already lost so much when they lost their mom, so why would we as a community want them to have everyone talking about their dad as though he is a monster, without any proof that he is?

I realize that this message is going to get a lot of backlash and outrage, and I appreciate that.  But I would really hope that maybe one person, after reading this, might think twice about writing the stuff that they do about these kids' dad.

There are 2 issuse that bother me.

1 - Why he has shut everyone out the kids lives

2 - Why he avoids talking to the police.

Obviously he is a person of interest in this case, and I hope for your own sake, before you make up your mind on who is telling the truth, you ask yourself some tough questions. Ask him some tough questions.

Do you feel you know for a fact that the person of interest in this case is innocent?

thirtysix; you sound like you have a "good heart" ...at least you are giving this man the benefit of the doubt.
I can only keep thinking one concept over and over....that was posted here or somewhere once... it still clings and screams of logic.
It states something about: (and this is not word for word...just what I remember ...I think posted by a man)  "If someone murdered my wife, and it wasn't me, I would take every opportunity I could to talk about it and find out who did it." .....at least that was the thought!
I know, myself, if someone murdered the father of my children - they wouldn't be able to find a hole deep enough to hide from me.  I'd find them....I would plaster it all over the country until the people of the country helped me find the killer.  I would hound the police and Dept. of Justice mercilessly for action on the case.  And if I was too nervous to do it myself, at least I would help others to accomplish the grusome task.  ....this man has done neither.....all he's done is take offence!  as in "Me thinks thow doest protest too loudly"  ....that sure makes him look guilty.
