Tailspin:
It took me 14 minutes to reread the McCann thread from the beginning, follow links, etc. I didn't leave a link yesterday when I did reread the article and just mentioned it in passing, thinking that people may have already seen the whole article. So here it is and you are welcome.

Because I had reread it on the fly while looking for something else, I made the mistake of semi-quoting police and this sounds like someone else familiar to Vader was quoted. My apologies for saying it was Police. I have editted my original post accordingly.

http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/canada/Father+sought+missing+couple+case+warns+violence/3293097/story.htmlThe father of the man wanted for questioning in the disappearance of a St. Albert couple is warning residents in his community not to try to apprehend his son.
If anybody ever tried to corner his son, Travis Vader, they'd probably be attacked, Ed Vader told a group of 50 people Friday night at a MacKay, Alta. community meeting. Vader led the meeting that had been previously scheduled to discuss an increase in crime in the area.
``In Travis's case, they have had him in jail three or four times. I don't know why they didn't keep him there.''
He told residents that if they spotted his 38-year-old son they should avoid trying to apprehend him themselves or approach him with a weapon.
Following the meeting, Vader said he did not want to answer questions about his son, other than to say he hadn't seen Travis in two or three months.
``I've wanted him arrested for a long time and that's it,'' he said. ``He and I don't talk.''
As recently as a year and a half ago, Travis worked on the rigs in British Columbia, managing teams of workers and pulling in upwards of $1,500 a day.
But he told associates that after a messy divorce he'd returned to less respectable work that had landed him in trouble with the police.A few days prior to the McCanns' disappearance, Vader wrote to friends that he was on the run, but knew how to cover his tracks. He said the dozens of charges the RCMP in Alberta and B.C. had against him were mostly bogus.``All I can say is that guy has been causing trouble for a long time and I wish he'd been picked up a long time ago,'' said a woman from the Niton Junction area, near MacKay.
``I know his parents and I know they'll be gut-sick. They're very nice people. And unfortunately their son just got on drugs and he can't manage himself. They're scared of him themselves,'' said the woman, who asked not to be named because she is scared of Travis. She said she feels for his parents. ``Who wants to raise a child that has to be on the front page of the news?''
