Was his motive purely money do you think?
He must have planned this for awhile. Read a lot about other cases and, like Mike White, perhaps hoped Ruth's murder would be thought the work of a predator. It is almost always more likely a spouse/partner is responsible for the murder of a woman, a mother.
I still am confused if KARE is investigating Ruth's murder. I think if KARE is investigating there may be something more than we understand. Not that I'm saying the husband isn't responsible, but from what I've learned usually KARE doesn't get involved if the husband is a clear suspect.
I don't believe KARE was involved in the investigation of Leanna White's murder. I can't confirm that KARE is involved.

Des - i don't think KARE is involved in this case at all. maybe they were attached when burned remains were first found out in the woods, but no longer.

As for motive...lots to speculate on. I do not think this murder was planned, in the way we think of pre-meditation, weeks of planning, etc.. I don't think their relationship was in a solid place at all, she'd spent time in shelters, her connections to her family on the Philippines could have had her partner thinking she may bolt with their son...

But given the timeline of events, with Ruth last seen sometime between 5-7 pm on the Saturday, her partner going out for the evening, coming home to apparently find Ruth gone and yet all her necessary possessions in the home(begs the question: where was the young son if she, as he says, wasn't home??)...i'd be much more apt to believe he comes home, they fight, something goes wrong, and we're into cover-up mode. drive to a familiar place in the middle of the night(can you imagine if he had his young son with him at the time??), burns her remains, goes back home, waits until the next day to report her missing.

To me if there was significant forethought into killing and disposing of her remains, I think the perpetrator would have done a far better job in hiding her remains.

As for money motives...I'd be interested in knowing if insurance companies are apt to pay out to spouses who are suspects in their own partner's deaths...my hope is no.

Knowing the status of the $4 million dollar lawsuit pertaining to the accident that happened before their son was born would also be interesting...

Right, the lawsuit. I guess the motive would be money, if Ruth was planning on leaving and taking her son overseas then he would not only lose regular access to his son, but also a big wad of cash.

...And besides all that, Des. Go back to the first page of this thread, and the links to some of Ruth's husband's theories of the world, re: Eugenics and the degenerates overpopulating the world. This dude's got rage, and quite possibly some screws loose...

Man, it is hard to realize so many years have passed. Yes I read all those posts and did some research/reading on my own, things he posted.

Amazing how such a dork, a weirdo, a creepy freaky dude can outsmart and outwit the police, the public, everyone and get away with murder.

You know Chet, the public, us, we're patient people. We have to be because it doesn't say that justice must only be done, it says justice must also be seen to be done. It doesn't say how long justice will take to mete or if justice must be done within a certain time frame. Eventually, it must be seen to be done.

I believe though our society must have justice be seen to be done by all who were in the place at the time. A family, friends, community, perhaps even the whole country, must, in their lifetime, collectively, witness justice to be done in order for it truly to have been done. If we can't have that then subsequent generations of family, friends and community must ensue it is seen to be done. Because in the end justice must prevail. Indeed, justice will prevail, we just can't demand when.

This is much like prayer. We pray and we pray and we pray and when our prayers are answered it's often not when we expected them to be answered. We are inclined to say "It's about time, but I coulda' used this before." We say thank you but our disappointment will often show. If we don't realize that timing is our perception and we are indeed the worst judges of what should happen in our own lives, we don't accept the timing.

If we pray to win the lottery and we continuously just break even do we feel our prayers are answered? I look at lottery in terms of odds, they are very slim. Very, very slim. So how can He who answers our prayers possibly grant the wish to every single person who prays to win the lottery? It is human limitation that prevents our collective wishes from being granted. If the number of prizes are doubled then the number of people who's hopes, dreams, wishes and prayers have been answered are also doubled. No one buys a lottery ticket and not hope, wish, dream or pray to win.

Whatever is needed to convict Ruth's killer must be done. An unsolved murder is the most heinous of human crimes. No issue, ordinance or public need outweighs the value of human life and he who takes human life must be our country's most hated and pursued person. He and she must be most wanted by the public, most pursued by the police, most determined to prosecute by our judicial system. We must ensure he or she is the right one and be sent to exile from our society for the rest of their lives. We must put our finest resources into their pursuit, capture, conviction and incarceration.

A society that pursues frivolous things and ignores the person beside us in their time of dire, dire need is a society worth nothing more than the paper their stocks and bonds are printed on. We are nothing if the human life taken by another person is forgotten. Whatever the reason. Murder is not a big deal in our society, in many societies. We are so upset by China's decision to execute a heroine smuggler, indeed their record of more executions per year than the rest of the industrialize world combined but no one hears of the injustice Ruth Degayo and her family, friends and community have suffered for four years next week.

We will pour millions of dollars in a few days into the promotion of the news the British citizen was slated for and executed yet we do not have the resources or compassion to ensure Ruth Degayo's killer is arrested, charged, convicted and incarcerated for the maximum penalty allowed by our laws. Why is Ruth's name not in the news? Why are people speaking fervently among themselves yet failing to speak loud and collectively to the public? Why does the world wide media not roar the obvious injustice to everyone and why does everyone not gather and shout for action? We need more shouting. We have to shout together.

Life does not equal life in this country. It has not been so for many years and thousands of murdered people have not had justice, not real justice. At least I don't see it, not yet.

Hope, wish, pray or dream - justice will be seen to be done. But faith is not silent. Love and compassion are not solitary pursuits. Today I feel angry that so many injustices prevail in our society that could easily, readily and quickly be fixed. And I'm horrified by the injustices that have occurred over the years and the loneliness and isolation people continue to live in. A killer takes peoples existence away. He or she also takes the expectations of a future with that person and the hopes, dreams and wishes of those who love them. The entire dynamic of a community changes when a person from one of their families is murdered. Murder is the most heinous crime in our society and killers ought to be pursued with the best resources we have.

If we have only ten most wanted slots but hundreds of equally evil wanted people maybe we ought to rethink the list containing only ten. After all, that's a real old list when there weren't so many unsolved crimes on the books. We have to change the way we think about and pursue killers. They are the worst people in our society, the worst.

What is amazing, I was in Airdrie yesterday and mentioned this case, and no one knew about it. hard to believe this case is not more known in Airdire. Anyway, now that I told a couple of people, they are commited to making sure everyone they know is aware of this case. maybe if mroe people in town knew aout it, someone might be able to fill in the last piece of evidence to arrest the killer. Who knows.

I am very sad to hear the citizens of Airdrie are not aware of Ruth's murder and that a murderer walks among them, in their community.

The fourth year marker of Ruth's murder is coming up and maybe this is a good time for anyone and everyone to write a letter to the Airdrie newspapers, perhaps others.

I wrote my letter to the airdrie city view. I will write one to airdrie echo tomorrow.

Great idea, Des. And the Calgary Sun did a piece prior to Christmas on Ruth & her family. It may be too late, but the Herald might be worth a shot as well. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if they're already on it.

The Airdrie City View contacted me this morning and the reporter said she would be interested in doing something on Ruth's unsolved murder. Calgary is good, but if the citizens of Airdrie aren't aware of Ruth's unsolved murder then perhaps a local article will help push things. The community Ruth is from are the ones who will provide information, in my opinion.

If anyone has something they would like to say to the reporter who contacted me please PM me and I will give you her email. As I'm not, none of us are, family, perhaps just knowing many non-family members are concerned will give a slant that hasn't been reported. That is the public are concerned too. I also gave the reporter the direct link to Ruth's record here. I said all the information she needs about who Ruth's family are is here and it will only take her maybe 1/2 hour to read and get caught up on what has been reported. I said we all believed Ruth's murder can be solved.

This is a step, a single step. Maybe there will be more ideas forthcoming, more pressure can be placed on the guilty person or the guilty person's circle.

Justice for Ruth!

The reporter asked me nine questions about the murder of Ruth, four questions related to the origins of this forum and how I became involved.
I don't know if the reporter will print an article but I hope something good comes from this.
Should i post here the questions and my answers?
I've sent the questions and answers to Chris though, because he is the founder.

Atta go Des, thats the stuff! I like seeing verification of letters sent and the q and a. It all helps to keep up the pressure. But you could wait awhile and see if the story is published and then link to it.
