Police are asking the public for help in locating a local teen who has been missing for more than two months.
On June 24, an Airdrie girl was reported missing after failing to return to her foster family’s home after school.
She was last seen leaving George McDougall High School at about 10:30 a.m.
Prior to her disappearance, she told people that she was planning to run away from her foster family’s home.
Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 16-year-old Jessica Romanyshyn.
“Now we are turning to the public to help because we have exhausted all avenues of our investigation,” said Airdrie RCMP Cst. Francine Hennelly. “We have spoken to her foster family, her biological family, her friends and now we are turning to the public.”
Romanyshyn is Caucasian, and described as five feet tall and 110 pounds, with long blond hair and green/blue eyes.
She was wearing a pink and black hoodie, a turquoise tank top, flip flops and was carrying a black purse with silver studs when she was last seen on June 24.
“We do not suspect foul play at this time, but it would be good to find out where she is for the sake of the family that’s involved,” said Hennelly. “It is important that we find her.”
Police believe Romanyshyn has chosen to leave her foster home on her own as she has a history of running away.
“Family and friends are concerned for her safety and well being as she has never been away for this length of time,” said Hennelly.
“Everyone would like to know where she is and that she is okay.”
If you have information about Romanyshyn’s whereabouts, please contact the Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
