The family of Tyler Walton is now offering a $25,000 reward for information on his disappearance and whereabouts.
Walton, 25, was last in Williams Lake Monday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
Tyler’s father, Ken Walton, says there are still no leads to explain why his son disappeared or where he could be.
He says police have checked Tyler’s bank records, finding only that Tyler had made a bank deposit before he went missing.
Tyler’s wallet, identification, vehicle, bicycle, toothbrush, and other personal belongings were still at his home when he disappeared.
All that was missing was the clothes he was wearing.
“We don’t have anything to go on, no clues whatsoever,” Ken says. “He just disappeared, like he got plucked off the face of the Earth.”
He says the family has heard numerous stories and rumours, but there is nothing to substantiate any of them.
He says police have talked to Tyler’s friends, but no one has any idea where he could be.
“He’s got friends all over the place. They’ve checked down in Washington and around B.C. where he has friends.”
Ken says Tyler is not the type to leave without telling anyone where he is going.
“He might go away for a retreat or something, but he would always tell someone,” he says, adding that even Tyler’s jacket was left at home.
“He’s not even dressed to go out in the outdoors,” Ken says, adding that while Tyler owns a cellphone, he didn’t have it since it was being repaired.
Ken says he hopes the reward being offered will generate some information.
“His family is really missing him, and we hope he comes home safely at some point — the sooner the better,” Ken says. “It’s not going to be a very merry Christmas. He’s been gone for over six weeks now, and we don’t know what to think.”
Sgt. Steve McLeod of the Williams Lake RCMP detachment says police continue to investigate Tyler’s disappearance, but there are no new leads.
“We encourage anyone who might have any information who hasn’t come forward to investigators yet to come forward,” McLeod says. “We are continuing to actively investigate it.”
McLeod says he can’t provide further comment, since the investigation is active.
Walton is described as being 5’10”, 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or a concerned friend at 250-395-7736.
