How about Cindy Blazek (I think she was from Rosetown, SK.) who was a teacher on the Onion Lake First Nation, I believe it was in 1986 or 87, could be wrong, she was murdered in her teacherage house located beside the school she worked at,  but I've been searcing everywhere to find that information. I know it wasn't solved and I often wonder about that case.

Here's an unsolved murder from Moose Jaw.

In the early morning hours of November 12th 1976, a fire broke out in southern Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. When firefighters put out the fire, they discovered a body. They initially thought the deceased died because of the fire. Getting a closer look, the small female body had about one hundred stab wounds. The woman, who turned out to be Dr. Isabellita Joven, had her head smashed in as well.

Pretty soon cops found a suspect, Laura Ann Schepens. Schepens led police to a metal bar, a blood soaked towel from Dr. Joven's house, Schepens' gloves and clothing worn on the night of the murder--both covered in blood. The bar was found in a dirt pile near Schepens' house. When the police went to her house, they found out she had been courting Dr. Joven's fiancee. Schepens also made comments that 'the pigs are here', that if she was put in jail she'd shoot herself. She also threw a kitchen knife on the counter saying, "I suppose this is what you are looking for."

She said on the night of the murder, she was driving near Dr. Joven's house and saw it was ablaze. She went in the house (the door was unlocked) and found the doctor on the floor. In "great fright", Schepens said she fell onto the body, thus explaining why her clothes worn on that night were bloody.

For some bizarre reason, Laura Ann Schepens was never put in jail for this, although in my opinion, there is quite a bit of evidence. Last time I checked, she was living in Regina.

Vital Statistics

    * Estimated age: 40 ? 50 years old
    * Approximate Height and Weight: 5'10" - 6'0"
    * Distinguishing Characteristics: Black or dark brown hair. Stocky build. He may have worn a beard.
    * Marks, Scars: The man had a healed fractured rib and had his appendix removed.
    * Dentals: Full set of dentures
    * Clothing: Two pairs of pants. One pair has been identified as denim jeans bearing the Howick Rider brand. The second pair were knitted polyester fabric trousers. He wore a size 34 grey belt and beige cowboy boots (size 9 1/2; Texas brand). A black money belt was also found (size 34; Caswell brand). A chain was attached to the money belt similar to the type on a trucker?s wallet.

Case History
The victim was located floating in the South Saskatchewan River by a farmer checking his cattle on May 26, 1982 "

I think we have close to all the unsolved murders in Sask here that have anything published about them. I am sure there are probably a few more older cases and maybe some gang related ones in the cities.

Kind of sort of writing a book....am hoping to write one based on all the unsolved murder cases, (cold cases) and maybe spark some interest in the general public. Someone has to know something about these murders, and if a book jogs their memories, and helps to solve a case......thats what I am aiming at. Only thing is I want to go back at least 100 years. I will be searching thru public archives at my local library....I am sure there is something on file.
